I'm trying to think of the last "really good movie" we watched at home, and I'm coming up blank. Any recs?
Abigail is streaming on Peacock, its a fun horror film. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare was pretty solid as well. The Indian import, Kill, was probably the most fun in recent memory, just a gonzo actioneer...
Abigail was great, those other 2 are on the list. I refuse to pay extra to "rent" a movie on a streaming service I already pay for. That's just me, though.
Watched it. It wasn't the worst movie but on par of expectations. Fallout was trash compared to this.
The movie tried to cram in a lot of detail over time and the characters were mostly unlikable and under ndeveloped. Jack black was alright if you like his shtick. The action sequences weren't anything to rave about. They spent a pretty penny on costume and set design but couldn't get a good sequence to hold for more than five seconds. You rarely saw two key actors in the same frame, which made me think either they hated each other or they were using some budget saving camera trick along with jump cuts. A nicely done set piece or two would've made this decent to watch in the background. It pulled too many punches for pg13 and didn't survive the double surgery of lobotomy and castration. I kept comparing this one to fallout and thought it would've benefited with more run time and darker tone and gore. It's a nice looking movie with that borderlands feel but the director/writer is ****. 2/5
