Haven't even seen it, but the Fallout series kind of sucked the life outta this for me. Gonna compare them in this year's ever-crowded Apocalyptic sand box. They should've gave this three weeks before Deadpool or three months after. There's a dearth for these kinds of movies.
So it just needs to stay in theaters and pull similar numbers until Thanksgiving and they hit the profit line? Seems doable.
They should look at Fallout to know how to do a video game right. That cast looked terrible for Borderlands.
I enjoyed Borderlands as a video game, but it doesn't lend itself to a movie adaptation. The best fit for a first-person shooter adaptation is a war movie. You could easily make a movie out of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game, because that is just a war movie. It is much tougher to make a Quake or Doom or Borderlands movie, because a) it isn't a universe the audience is pre-prepared to care about, and b) the stakes are not the same as a war movie. Maybe this will be good (haven't seen it), but the foundation is not great.
Mine was @Windchimes in the 80's early 90's. It had a proper arcade next door, and I guarantee you I spent more money at that arcade than at the theater Me and some buddies were known to blow out a rainy summer day between the 2, with some car hotbox as needed between movies
Ive read reviews from video game guys that say that they did a terrible job of translating essential elements of the video game to the film, so they couldnt even do that right, apparently.
I was more of a Galaga guy, if we're talking older games Oh...and Defender I didn't ever last that long at Centipede or Missile Command
Defender was fun. Never go into Galaga. Asteroids was OK, but once you started having to move quickly, it was all over. MC was all about the clouds and being able to hit those weird little things that came down in a herky-jerky manner.
Watch it Friday, its not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination but I wouldn't say its the worst thing I've seen all year either. The biggest sin it commits is it feels like a copy of a copy of a copy, everything they throw onscreen has been done before and far better. The script is simplistic and straightforward but just as tired as everything else, so much so that even the case of talented actors can't save it even poor Cate Blanchett who is trying her hardest to make it interest in full blow anime cosplay.....
