I've said this before and it's one of my pet peeve deals. But...the fact that we keep asking "handle the economy" poll question- when in fact everyone for the last 200+ years understands that Presidents do not, in fact, handle the economy, any more than they control the weather - is just a fascinating bit of institutional stupidity and human cognitive dissonance. I understand Presidents and governments exist as an avatar for "the System" and thus "the economy " which can't really be defined or comprehended by a puny human brain, even by economists. Like what of we stopped asking that question and started instead asking questions about things presidents control or directly influence? Would be people stop believing this? Like instead of we asked about interest rates and the Fed? Because that's actually something that can be controlled?
You may not like Trump, but his VP pick has a far greater understanding of the modern economy than either Harris or Walz.
Count me among the 'low engagement voters' on this topic. I know that Cruz proposed this idea with bipartisan support, and either Trump picked it up, or he was the originator, and Cruz ran with it. Either way, I don't know much about the 'no tax on tips' policy. How does it actually benefit wealthy people?
Well ask yourself really quickly why super rich people would endorse a proposal that eliminates taxes for lower income people? The same people who have been ranting for years about forcing people who otherwise pay $0 in income taxes or close to it to have a "minimum" tax? It's because "tips" are something that wealthy financiers and hedge fund managers think they can reclassify their income as in order to avoid taxes. it's always about avoiding taxes for rich people. By the way, it's no surprise that it would be somewhat bipartisan. it plays well to the base and has the hidden benefit to wealthy donor class.
I was agreeing about the videos. She hasn't done any as the candidate. Just like Vance never voted yes and voted no on those issues supporting veterans. Why would you want me to post a video of the interview when I agreed she hasn't done one yet?
Agreed - she hasn’t said much of anything about what her policy is. Instead she has just gone to huge rallies and talked about how great she is and how she will make America great again. It’s like nothing I have seen before.
