Was at the game. He started a little wild with the FB but settled in and looked pretty good. Got the bobblehead too.
I strongly suggest against it unless it's gonna be a 1 year deal under 10 million if he gets no traction in the off season. Nothing suggests he's anything other than an end of the rotation guy. I want a vet starter that will average at least 6 IP. He's a 5 inning pitcher on average. That puts a lot of pressure on the bullpen. Valdez is our only 7 IP type pitcher. We need another one pretty close to that in the rotation.
I pray we aren't crapping on a pitcher that got us 2 world series titles and very nearly 4 (see 2019 and 2023).
Ye Yes and he is absolutely a solid #4 He simply doesn't have the same stuff as Diesel and Spaghetti. I never expect Blanco to K 10+
That's crazy low. Even if he doesn't average 6ip ( many many starters don't these days) if he's King 10+ per 9 innings and allowing less than 3 runs per start that's a very valuable guy. He's a #2 or #3 starter in the playoffs with those numbers. If he ONLY costs 1 yr / $10M then I will become a monk. At those numbers he's a bargain at 3 yes / $45M and that's still very low compared to what he ends up getting.
Best money Crane ever spent. We take for granted what JV has to go through to be effective into his 40s, post Tommy John. Pitchers get hurt. No question about that. We have 6 guys who've taken all our starts in the past 4 postseasons - they are all injured right now except Framber. Almost every pitchers misses significant time.
I tell ya, I just watched ball 4 on a 3-2 pitch from Gilbert but this gdamn ump called strike 3. I gotta believe if we kept stats on missed calls favoring a team Seattle would be #1. And by a lot.
You're suffering from recency bias. And I sure hope he continues to pitch like he has for Dana Brown's sake because he needs to lead us to the World Series at worst to make sense of what we gave up for a rental.
So much for the Mets great offense, they forgot their bats. Astros will have to continue taking care of business.
