Maybe, but not definitively. He has 11 carries for 31 yards, 2.8 ypc this preseason. Dare has 6 carries for 24 yards, 4 ypc. It's not like Akers has been great running the ball. His longest carry tonight was 5 yards. Where he has contributed has been as a receiver. 5 catches for 42 yards. Maybe his role is simply as a 3rd down back.
Main takeaway from the game. Metchie ain't making the team. Stover might actually be a productive player for the Texans this year. Texans are going to destroy zone coverage. All three of their receivers can run away from people in traffic and running man is just another death wish. DL is going to be solid against the run. Can't wait for the Anderson and Hunter meet in the middle play on 3rd down.
