Did you mean exactly 2-3 games or 2-3 franchises? If you meant games, then people are wasting their money if they get a console for mostly two or three games. That's why the PS2, IMO, has a much better library when it comes to the different genres.

Maybe you don't care if it has WAY better RPG's/Tactical RPG's, platformers, or awesome action games with interesting gameplay features such as MGS and GTA, but I'm sure a lot of people do. Of course, there are those few people who would want a Powerranger/Powderpuff game and they could probably get that on the PS2 (are they actually games though? Never really paid attention). It seems to me that if I didn't like KOTOR, Fable, Halo, or Ninja Gaiden, I'd pretty much say screw the Xbox. Yet if I didn't like FF, KH, SO, Disgaea, GT4, MGS, GTA, and DMC, I'd still have a whole bunch of other great games. (not just games but quality games.)

I just want to pop in and say that Halo 1 is one of the most overrated games I have ever played. One of my new roommates has an XBox, so I got to play it for the first time a few weeks ago, playing through from beginning to end. It started off great, but once you got into the later levels, it just became a repetitive borefest. Every room/corridor looked the same and the enemies were pretty much identical. That one particular level where you had to follow the little floating blue computer around while members of the Flood attacked was absolute torture; 30 minutes of repetition... just terrible. Then, once it's over, they make you go back through all the previous levels again. That's just bad game design.

I just don't understand why there are so many diehard Halo fanboys. The game really isn't that great. It isn't even the best in its genre because as far as first person shooters go, Metroid Prime blows Halo out of the water.

Ok, at least I know I' am not the only one that thinks this game is overrated. I think it's a good game but not as good as the hype.

I meant 2-3 games at a time. lets say you beat em, or get tired of em after a month, another 2-3, that gives you a total of what 12*3 = 36 games played per year... not to worry Xbox im sure has 36 games.

I play MLB, NBA, Madden, and other variations of these games... Maybe once in a while NFS, or an rpg, prince of persia, but thats about it.

I agree, fade. I finally broke down and bought Halo for the PC (I'll be damned if I'm going to go out and spend money on an X-Box when I am so happy with my Gamecube). I finished the game in a week or so, playing only sparsely. The only thing the game seems to have done really well to seperate it is the vehicles. But as far as the enemy AI, enemy variety, weapon variety, level design, etc...it was blatantly pedestrian.

I also absolutely hated the design of only being able to carry two weapons. I know this introduces some strategy into it, but to me it only emphasized the realization that there really weren't that many guns that I wanted to carry around with me. The simple hand pistol that the game starts you out with remained my favorite weapon throughout the whole game. That ain't right.

I think level design is slowly becoming a lost art. I remember back when Doom and Doom II were the only FPS worth having, people had to get really creative with their levels. The engines didn't allow anyone to build rooms on top of rooms. But id and other gamers created some pretty cool levels with a limited engine. I don't see people fully utilizing what is available to them anymore.

Put me in the group that doesn't understand why Halo has such a faithful following. As far as console games go, I thought Metroid Prime was better, but if you want to include the whole FPS genre, nothing touches Half Life. I can't wait until Half Life 2 comes out. Screw Halo 2.

    Totally agreed.

This also sums up my opinion of the Grand Theft Auto series.

PC and PS One because someone practically gave me the PSX to me. It gets a fair bit of play, but 90% of that is Street Fighter Alpha 3.

We had an Intelivision when I was a kid but I don't remember much about it (I was about 4 or 5).

Now I have a PS2 and GameCube and will consider getting an Xbox after the next price drop.

I also agree about Halo and the GTA series being overrated.

I never understood the console crave. A pc beats out just about anything. The options are wide open. A PC offers EVERYTHING a console has to offer.

I can't live w/out multiplayer games, whether they are 1st person, RTS, or RPS.

Xbox baby. I popped a 250GB HD in and have NES and SNES emulators on it. I have every NES and SNES game ever made. Plus there are tons of room for Xbox games on it. I'll never go back to swapping DVD's ever again. I think I have about 50 xbox games on it right now.
