I've had nothing but problems since switching over to my Mac G5 this year. I've owned 3 PC's before and had no substantial problems.

The latest issue I'm having is my Mac is shutting down completely for no apparent reason. No warning, nothing. It's as if someone is pulling the plug from the wall.

Currently my 3 month old monitor is in the shop because that went out on me too.

Okay, many thanks everyone for all the suggestions.......right now i guess i'm leaning towards the Mac, but maybe i'll get a nice extended warranty considering all the problems Faos has had w/ his....

i may be turning my back on windows/microsoft forever now and defecting to the other side!

LOGITECH MX 510 for the Mac!

    Killer Mouse! :D

Oh, and where do I get my RAM, ATA Drives and keyboards? At CompUSA! Right off the shelf. Yep. The PC rack.

Standard ATA drives (7200 rpm). Standard RAM chips (PC100, PC2100, PC3200...). And keyboard or mouse that use USB works fine!

We can get the latest ATI Radeon or NVidia Graphics cards too!

As someone who not only worked for Apple tech support but also owns several Macs, BUY THE APPLECARE PROTECTION PLAN!!!!

I'm using my mouse wheel to scroll this thread. Macs handle multi-button mice with no additional software or drivers. Just plug it in and go.

    Another myth de-bunked. :)

Faos: Man, that SUCKS! I'd be PISSED. I've had half a dozen Macs and, other than me overloading the hell out of one that was too small and causing it to lock up and need service, I've never had problems with any of the machines I've owned. If I were you, I'd get a replacement and have Mac cover it for you.

Me too. Single button mouse for my kids (and the wife she likes the simplicity) and multi button mouse for me.

    So,

The MAC ripped off the Mouse wheel from the PC, typical, can't compete on it's own so steals from the more successful brother.

Yes...that is it !! (wringing my PC hands).

    Back to reality.

Games are the main reason for PC, the Mac just does not cut it in performance for games.

If you plan to play any type of game at all and 90% of people play games on their PC of one form or another, than the PC is the better choice.

Quoth the President of a game development company...

    :)

I actually have a reasonable mix of hardware: PS2 for games, PC for recording TV (my digital tuner card is only compatible with PCs), and Mac for working on (at home).

    Exactly!!!

Funny, because I work in the computer business too and I don't have a single friend, family member or client that plays more than FreeCell or the occassional online Flash game. :)

I've also heard the Bungie (the MS-owned creators of Halo) use MACs extensively.

There was also a picture of the Xbox design team's office (I think it was in EGM around when the Xbox first came out) that showed multiple quicksilver G4's in the office.

    Yes.

And it's crashed/shut down on me 3 times already on me this morning. I can't wait to take it by the so-called "Genius Bar" to have it looked at at the the Apple Store after my last experience there.
