Why the heck does everyone act like JVG was tough with Eddie? From all accounts ive heard and read, JVG was pretty understanding with Eddie, even after his troubles started and he started falling apart. I remember seeing an interview with JGV where he was saying something to the effect of "Eddie is a good kid and we're concerned about him, I hope he can overcome what he's going through right now and we're looking forward to having him back." JVG never hung Eddie out to dry.
if i went to jail for allegedly shooting a girl, then get released; i would probly go to the club my damn self to releive the stress and anger of awaiting trail.
JVG does not come off as cuddly and folx believe JVG may say something but not really mean it Rocket River
Do get me wrong and I certainly do not impose ill will, but F this. Eddie was not ready for the NBA then and our gamble cost us 3 players. BTW - He had to have been stoned to have to deal with your endless persistence.
That's what I was thinking but I didn't want to say anything. Old Man Rock, do you know Eddie, because it seems like you were pushing him a little hard there.
You got it all wrong, man. This is endurance training for those inevitable quinquaguple-overtime games. If he can shake it at the club at 5:00am, he can patrol the paint at 5:00am. For those really bad golfers out there, here's an amusing laundry list of bogie multiples ... Bogie URL
What do we have to show for Eddie? The Nets have two trips to the finals and RJ. I hope he has trouble signing on in the Phillipines!
So many saints on this BB. I am sure it outrageous for a 20 something year old to be at a club at 5 am. Woo the youth of this country.
post of the year. i am tired of everyone on here pointing the finger at someone else just because they werent able to succeed in houston. I am sure Eddie did not of this to deliberately hurt the team. I am sure if he could turn back time, he would try to fix his problems. Honestly though, Im glad things worked out they way they did. What if we didnt trade the 3 picks for Eddie. Suppose we kept RJ, Collins, and I think the pg anderson. Suppose we made the playoffs that year. Guess what would have happened. NO YAO! quit b!tching about the past. Everything happens for a reason. EG was a good kid who fell off track. Just pray for the guy and wish him well.
What I find weird is that when I was in Houston two years ago, I couldn't find a club that stayed open past 3am. Must of went to the wrong 6 clubs.
Thanks, Old Man Rock. I am truly amazed that, for being 5 o'clock, you could remember all that, but then again, I remembered my PowerDancer In My Class conversation, and that was after working for 4 hours! Good stuff. Anyway, where is this THE PALACE?
It does not bother me that he was at a club so late, lord knows I was at that age. BUT, isn't he still on probation? If that is the case, he should not be at those clubs. DD
i have no clue why we care about this guy. he is probly gonna amount to nothing more than a scrub, and thats if he can stay in the NBA without going to jail! get over it people, we screwed up a draft pick, but lets not dwell on it.
I haven’t responded sooner but while I love visiting this site I am not crazy about all the bashing you get when you post… I know it comes with the territory and I am thick skinned enough, still not crazy about it. As for remembering the conversation the words are pretty close but not exact… I know some of you won’t believe it but I actually talked to Eddie a lot more than I even wrote. I don’t remember all of it and some of it was just me babbling. No, I don’t know Eddie aside from meeting him once after an open practice and I doubt he even remembered that. But at that practice. He seemed approachable… I watched him playing with the kids after that practice when a lot of the other players had already left … I know he’s got this terrible rep but the guy has always seemed amicable to me… (Here comes the shooting girlfriend jokes) So I had another opportunity to talk to him and I took advantage of it. Something you should know about players and any famous people for that matter, they’re still people and for the most part they are approachable as long as you’re not an ass. Ask Another Brother he’s a semi-famous person and I myself used to do standup not that I’m famous or anything but I did a couple of Latino Laugh Festivals and got to hang with a lot of stars and they were almost all way cool… I digress… Anyway I talked to Eddie for more than just a few minutes… and believe it or not he seemed like he was enjoying the conversation. He introduced me to his partner and told me he was from home and I started talking to him and then Eddie waved me to come over by him. That’s when he told me about Kobe calling. I was a bit drunk and there was a chance I was misinterpreting his enjoying the conversation but it seemed that way. Of course it didn’t hurt that I was telling him I thought he was the best talent in his draft. I told him he was better than Kwame and Tyson and he kind of snickered but I sensed he was eating that up. I told him I know about all the **** that happened to him and his brother dying and I know he’s a good guy I know you won’t believe this but and I even lectured him a bit. I told him I thought he was this great talent and I was a big fan… and then I said… "But Eddie, you got all this talent and you got a use it". I told him you got a gift and you just need to be more aggressive. He got kind of quiet after that. I mean he wasn’t ever saying a whole bunch all of his answers where kind of short. But his faced kind of changed. Don’t ask me what it meant… he could have been thinking okay I had enough of this chump get lost now. But I got the feeling he was listening and on some level agreed with me. Anyway that’s when I decided I might have been overstaying my welcome and said goodbye and left. P.S. As for wanting him to go to LA… I’ve been a Rocket fan back since they drafted the Big E in San Diego and I will always live and die Rocket Red. But I just think so much of Rudy, he’s my favorite ex-rocket of all time and so that now makes the once hated LA my second favorite team. I know some of you don’t like that but that’s just the way it is. Also I think if Eddie wants to back on the right track Rudy can do more for him than anyone.
If EG gets back on (NBA and life) track, good for him. If EG does it anywhere but here next season I'll regret the loss.
