Any other game he played besides the 45 point game? Not that it matters. But still like to see him dominate Drew league, as he should.
No. He’s only played that one game in the Drew League. That was the last game of the season. Playoffs start this weekend, but will they let ringers play in playoffs?? I’d say, don’t bother Tari. I’m sure in LA, there’s other pickup action that actual NBA players are doing.
Sorry if discussed previously. Do you guys think he can be a nba all defensive team calibre player? Can he succeed in guarding the opposition's best guard/forward night in/night out? Is there any merit for comparing him to OG or Scottie Barnes?
Pretty sure he played at least one game before that one. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nb...eturn-after-drew-league-dominance/ar-BB1qqreh 26/9/4 in that
I think there's an outside chance, but he doesn't really come across as the "defensive specialist" archetype to me as much as crazy energetic/chaotic disrupter. I think he's the sort of good defender that makes great/big defensive plays that can absolutely change the course of the game, but not so much the guy you stick on your best player all night to lock them down. I think on both ends of the court he thrives on chaos/unpredictability whether he's causing it or just taking advantage of it, I don't think he's ever really looked like the defensive savant who knows all the tendencies inside and out and can shut down the opposing stars.
Hell yeah. Consider for a moment that all basketball is just half offense and half defense. Impact is offensive impact plus defensive impact. Tari doesn't do anything well on offense but hit open 3's at a low volume and offensive rebounding, so he cannot be a significant positive there and may actually be a slight negative. However somehow he was our highest or second highest overall impact player on the roster. The only way that's mathematically possible is if he's elite on defense. Unfortunately advanced defensive stats SUUUUUUCK unless there's like 5+ years of a consistent trend so you can't take much out of them but even so he rates very highly against second units so take that as you will. This dude has insane hands, wingspan, reach, speed, excellent height and excellent motor. Already near a league average shooter. Great rebounder which is useful. Very similar to OG Anunoby - including his struggles inside the arc and finishing. I feel like he has a better motor and team-first attitude than OG though. Udoka is going to create a monster out of him.
Oh, I see. Offensive rebounds from the same players own misses. For some reason, I didn't read the initial post that way.
I thought in the few minutes he got against Luka, Tari gave him trouble. Just as big and more athletic. Would love to see more next season hopefully.
17 minutes of isolation defense by Tari... Led the Rockets in Defensive Rating under Silas as a rookie (115 defensive rating). Led the Rockets in Defensive Rating under Ime as a sophomore (106 defensive rating). Welcome back!
Amen still has by far the highest defensive ceiling because of his elite athleticism and quicker feet but Tari is probably second in terms of defensive ceiling. Both these guys I can easily see making all defensive teams multiple times in their careers.
Also having Ime at the helm means I have more confidence in those two reaching their defensive ceilings or close to it. They are in a good environment to hone their defense.
