Walz is one of the few members of Congress where winning a Congressional seat resulted in a life changing salary. He was making 40k a year as a teacher and becoming a member of Congress (and later governor) resulted in getting a 4x pay increase on his salary. He's one of those rare members of Congress who was never independently wealthy. He and his wife are both career teachers so their combined take home pay was less than 100k a year.

You know what really bothers me about JD Vance is that once in Congress he did nothing to help the Veterans. Tim Walz on the other hand served as the top Dem on the armed services committee. He has also humbly said that he got more from the army than they got from him citing the GI bill and other benefits.

What you failed to mention is that Walz has been a huge critic of the CCP and government in China. Indeed, he has met with and has a relationship with the Dalai Lama. He also supported the rights of those in Hong Kong that were against the CCP. I know that he doesn't have children with multiple women, and he doesn't have a string of failed marriages and bankruptcies.... he isn't a felon and he doesn't have unpaid civil suit judgments against him for sexual assault ......... but believe it or not, having all of those things is kind of odd and not a good thing.
