Glad they have the wherewithal to not turn it into a generic mixed use like something you'd see in Dallas or Los Angeles.

Would be awesome to not need to drive 40 miles north to see a concert.

It would be nice if they would move his childhood home there so we could all more easily tour it.

I love it BUT just think if the County acted on a similar plan with NRG and the Astrodome?

That needs to be the first order of business

That’s a fantastic idea. These entertainment districts in the suburbs are terrible and will age really badly. Glad they are investing in a real location. That being said, I think everyone is rightfully concerned that it will just be a shrine to the Landry’s brand. Essentially a suburban wasteland in the middle of the city. Mediocrity run amok in a place that I would personally never visit. (Kemah 2.0)

I like this idea. I have always wondered why they dont do more with the tunnels and the mall. Our city has so much potential going to waste. They should have never gotten rid of Astroworld. There was so much they could have done with that as well.

Yes - the Olajuwon, Asik and Sengun museum will be next to the community mosque. …. Harden will have his museum in the VIP area of the Rockets strip club that Mad Max will berunning.

We need to cut this crap out where cities provide major assets to billionaires on the taxpayer dime while basic services go underfunded because these dicks don't want to pay taxes.

Make sure it includes lots of housing (high-rises) if you want it to thrive around the clock, not just during the evening hours.

FWIW, there is already an agreement with DraftKings to open up a sportsbook connected to TC, if/when it ever gets legalized in Texas. If you've ever been to the Suns' arena in Phoenix, sounds like it would be the same concept. The big question, of course, is if/when that will ever happen.

Re-read the post you quoted. It says "non-mixed people won't be able to use it", which is a joke about it being called a mixed use district.

There's a reason that ZZ Top played the last show in the Summit in November 2003 which now is Lakewood church.

That reason does not exist in Montgomery County where CW stands .... There is/was a very hefty tax on live music shows in Houston, most bands wouldn't come to Houston any longer as a result. That is why they build CW out in what was the middle of nowhere in 1990. Frank Sinatra played the first show at CW.

Yet only has beens and retreads play at CW.

every premier artist plays in Houston.

Though, it’s fun to catch a $25 old people hair metal band and smash a cougar after every once in a while.

What we really need is to un-curse the Toyota Center so that our players won't forget how to shoot.

I think it's odd that Houston is the "space city" yet there are zero references to space in downtown. I think they should build an Eiffel Tower kind of thing but make it a rocket. Collaborate with Nasa on it. At it's base, build an amphitheater spot where you can hold moderately sized outdoor events before games or concerts. This could also be the finish line for the marathon. Then surround that with a walkable promenade lined with bars, restaurants, and entertainment. Walkable has to be the operative word! De-emphasize (or eliminate) cars for a few blocks. Finally, I love the idea of creating underground space. Would be cool if the promenade has a glass roof so you can see the underground from the surface, sorta like the Louve has the glass pyramid. This would tie the underground together with the surface, so it's not disjointed. Oh, and let Fertitta add some of his Landry's magic with a ferris wheel or something.

There. Did it. I accept Cash app or Zelle.
