This is a cursed thread. And why is A. Diaz still on the team? Or has he been gone?

We could have saved the 40man slot (not that I think Coleman deserves one) by just releasing A. Diaz. Man we can do some dumb **** in roster building.

At this point when the known doesn't seem to be good enough, you go ahead and try the unknown.

I'm high on him long term, but like most prospects one shouldn't expect him to come up do a lot right away.

I hope it’s better than the Blair Henley era, the Joey Loperfido era, the Jake Bloss era, the Forrest Whitley era, the Trey Cabbage era, the Cesar Salazar era, the Grae Kessinger era, the Cooper Hummel era, the Caleb Ferguson era, the Alex Speas era, the Nick Hernandez era, the Luis Contreras era, the Joel Kuhnel era.

Looks at his career stats....seems to have power...but 179 K's in 607 career minor league at bats. Uh....

    It's OK

Leon could use a work day and may end up playing as PR, PH, defense for Yordan in the 9th if we have a 7-1 lead.

FYI when Zach bats in the first or 2nd inning, (I'm refusing to think 3rd) he will become the 998th player in Astros history.

I've been following along to see who ends up 1000

I originally thought it may be next year, as they had 975 coming into the season, which is 15.7 per year.

Now I'm thinking it could be Shay Whitcomb, Ryan Gusto, or Penn Murfee.

This team badly needs more guys with bat on ball skills and fewer swing and miss bros. Pedro Leon is tough to watch so far.

I actually thought Leon did a decent job at working the counts the last couple of games. He had a 3-2 count and took a pitch on the inside corner could've went either way. He had another 3-2 count and swung through a well executed pitch on the edge of the zone. His approach looked better than Meyers, Dubon, Chas, Singleton, Cabbage at least.

Well, I was totally wrong about the timetable of his callup, I assumed it would be a couple of weeks down the road.

Best line I've heard so far is "throw a bunch of rookies at the wall and see who sticks"

If 5 strikeouts in 10 plate appearances is decent, that says more about those other guys than Leon. He was one punch out from a golden sombrero last night.

In the end he had the same results as those other guys but he at least made the pitcher throw more pitches.

We knew Pedro has strikeout issues.

We also knew that in AAA he was slow to adjust, so the same can happen here.

He has shown that his arm is a weapon. He has shown that he works counts. He has shown that he uses his speed.

3 games is not a fair sample to judge him, but he has already shown reason for optimism.

Took him until his 3rd year in AAA to make that adjustment, getting regular ABs. 1000+ plate appearances. He won't get that nearly long a leash in the majors. Hope he's a quicker study at 26 than he was at 24 and 25.

Looks that way. Team doesn’t have enough hitters Dana
