See.... I don't get the that little scenario Van plays out in the Hoops Commercial. Why does little Nikko need the Defensive player (Grandpa Van) to make a move before he can shoot? Van's gotta "D" up in that situation, he can't have a 4 year old kid playing a mind game on him to get his shot off. If little Nikko has trouble getting his shot off he needs to develop a cross over or something. Kids these days...always looking for a shortcut.....
A HA! So your source is Bill Worrell. The secret is out.... or maybe it's a frend of Bill Worrell. Hmm.... maybe it's a friend of a friend. Okay, nevermind.
Tennessee? Awhellno. Missippi !!!! Trust me no one has more of a drawl than me, but I still don't like hearing it. I'm sure The Suits feel like Van is plugged in to the organization and brings 'personality plus' like Calvin, but the accent just grates on me. If it weren't so goofy Chance wouldn't have him reading rap and Shakespeare. I heard on 610 last week that it was expected to be Van however they were reviewing other candidates. It was during the same release that said Calvin was officially out for 04/05. Yep Van's rap is backward on the commercial,"grandaddy make a move" must mean, move the hell outhaway old man.
Is it me or??? Is that "Van on "segment on 610 just plain "not funny"? I think the concept was funny but it just hasn't panned out. It's beyond stupid now.
Van Chancellor on Iraq ~ And here comes little Georgie runnin into Iraq, Georgie lowers the boom and says "Sand daddy (Hussein) make a move, and Sand Daddy made a move and America gets to shoot".
Again, not saying you are wrong, but until there is a legitimate source that we ALL know that says it, it is a rumor. It would be the same if I found out from a source something that no other media outlet had reported. I would report it as [RUMOR] as well. People have posted things on here that they have stated that are absolute truth - period, end of story - and ended up looking stupid when it didn't happen (ahem, Troy Baros, cough). You may be right and you may have the greatest source ever, but you can't tell us who it is and you can't verify anything by any other means than saying, "Trust me," so, until it comes from a media outlet, it is labelled [RUMOR]. Just keeping things clear.
I have a feeling I'll be listening to the radio and watching the game on cable (since DIRECTV has about a 2 - 3 second delay during broadcast) on mute. Calvin is going to be missed, those are big shoes to fill...
I would like to also confirm that I also heard the same rumor that Van is taking Murphys spot this year.
Whats gonna happen to Coop if Air Bullard will be doing halftime? I'd rather have Bullard doing color and Van doing halftime
I don't . Van seemed to be a lot better talking on the fly when he filled in. He explained everything just as good as Calvin did. Bullard seemed to always be nervous and reading from a script even though he wasn't but when he did the half time shows it was great. Replace cookie with catfish wardrobe with accent and you have the same thing, someone who loves basketball, knows the game and has a great personality. Go Van
r-fan-since-81 definitely got the Van Chancellor part right, so that's interesting. Bullard will fill in about 20 times this year, my understanding. As for the halftime show, Bullard isn't doing it ... I think it stays Haggedorn-Cooper, but I'm not 100% on that. Apparently things have "changed about 5 times" in the last couple of months regarding the Rockets color broadcast situation. I'm told the Rockets reached out to a couple of national guys, but were turned down. I have to think Van Chancellor is a one-year experiment though. That's just a guess though. We'll see.
