Again, that dude lacks the most basic level of self awareness.

I can acknowledge my role in raising toxicity. But hey keep on encouraging the narcissism and lack of introspection of the thread creator. Encourage him. Keep at it..you are doing the garn a service.

Many posters would be good if they just gave up their obsessions with certain players, positively or negatively.

I try not to put these posters in Ignore because they do put up good posts from time to time. But I am very tempted to do so when they are deep in the bickering trance. (And I am replying to one of these posters. ;))

Again keep on encouraging the op.

Just a quick question. Do you have any role in raising toxicity?

Oh I'm sure. It's just a matter of degree. I have my own favorite and unfavorite players. I try to be fair but confirmation bias is in everyone. Who am I kidding?

But my obsession is usually not about any player but about calling out factual errors, logical fallacy, and hypocrisy. I know I am somewhat of a hypocrite too. But it's always fun to point out how people are doing exactly what they accuse of other people, and do it very often seemingly without knowing it. :)

Just curious. Are you being coy out of fake politeness?

Are you referring to the op or me when you are saying people accuse others and do exactly what they accuse of?

Talking to the homeless people by Minute Maid is better discourse than Reddit.

Another individual who lacks the awareness to admit any complicity in toxicity.

It's not all that different from when I first started lurking. YOFs, TOFs, LOFs, HOFs..It's all the same.

Could actually make a case for the average quality of discussion being better now than it was back then, with the amount of analysis, data, and stats readily available on the internet.

Conversely, wielding stats now makes the average fan an expert, which leads to misapplication and not understanding the context of certain metrics (I am not innocent of this). But I think in general people want to be more objective and knowledgeable.

That being said, this place does get messy, but that's the nature of the beast.

You want me to be honest?

Yes, you are one of those hypocrites who often accuse people of lack of self-awareness while you clearly does not have a lot of self-awareness yourself.

The OP is not more guilty than most other posters, including myself. But he has a much lower view about Jalen Green than I do. I believe because of that, you notice his bad side much more acutely than if he was a Jalen fan.

You see, this is why I don't buy the "I like the player. Just hate the extreme fans" or vice versa claims. If you agree with the guy, you don't notice his bad post as much as people who you don't agree with. If you like a player, you would tolerate their fans' antics. If you don't like a player, you can't stand their bad takes. That's just human nature.

Internet forums is what the internet is before massive centralization aka reddit, facebook groups, etc. Beforehand all those sub reddits and things were different forum websites

Place hasn’t been the same since @SpaceCityKid and @YoYao left

Kidding and if you see a dashingly good looking gentleman walking around in a Clutchfans tshirt, it’s probably me and please say hello.

Doesn't that just prove the GARM is dominated by Jalen disbelievers who wouldn't vote for themselves?

Bobby was right in his first post. Player only fans have always been the worst. They've always been around. Fairweather fans that follow their favorite player to whatever team they're on with no real loyalty to the team. It's just gotten worse and worse with more and more foreign players coming in and we saw the beginning of their craze for their guy way back with YaoMingMania. Linsanity are sane. Player empowerment and constant team jumping is also to blame.

I think it proves that most of the fans have moved on from Jalen and are instead focusing on other players. The Jalen stans can't seem to stay in one of the many, many, MANY dedicated Jalen threads so they pollute every thread in defense of their boy which is why every thread is the same 2-3 guys having the same argument with whichever poster is asinine enough to engage them.

There aren't many of them. Just a few but it's enough to muck up the whole board. Just have to wait until Training Camp though I'm not sure how much better it's going to be.

Well it's certainly not looking good with the inconsistency, but he still shows glimpses of how good he can be when he does show consistent play. Historically, year 3 is the big one, though, and the majority of his year 3 was awful. Those flashes can drive fans crazy. "Potential." We all know those fanbases of players based solely on potential. Jalen is barely turning 22 in a few months. I think he deserves a few seasons more of basing what he could be on potential-so long as the contract matches the production and not the potential.

For me? He's too small and i had hope he'd keep growing. Historically i don't really like scrawny, undersized score first SG's. They tend to make fan favorite 6th man type players, but do any of those even help their teams become champions? Lou Wil? JCrossover? The current ones? At best i found Jalen could be Spree or LaVine. Which is still a very good player to have. The franchise player? Nah...but POTENTIAL!

I’ve said it once in this thread and I’ll mention it again. There is a distinct difference Someone that supports a player or dislikes a player, but debates with data and takes the time to line out logical arguments.

People like DD or spamming the board none of their responses have any content. There is no analysis, there is just the reiterating of opinion.

BTG sometimes brings analysis, but also tends to lean into talking down and just being way too negative about the whole thing.

These people need to limit their posting. Personally, I’ve blocked them and it makes the board much more readable.

I haven’t looked at profiles to see ages but I have witnessed the thought process of many different generations. One’s not better than the other but points of view are so different. Determined and motivated to the point of dumbassery is nothing more than perspective. I have met people that have worked at the same place doing the same thing for years and still truly have less than year of actual experience. I share this to say most people don’t think or respond they react with emotion to support their agenda.

I think one way you can identify who is most responsible is by checking who has the most number of posts / replies in this thread, that is the toxic one. That individual is causing the divisiveness and bothering the most people, and has been extremely combative. When you see a thread created about who is the most annoying, and the guy comes in and is responsible for 20% of all of the posts in the thread, it is telling. This thread was like a mouse trap for them, and we all know who it is now :D
