This team is choking. It was a good little run but they were playing above themselves. This just isn’t a playoff caliber lineup. Not even close. Not challenging the pitchers at all. Falling behind in counts. Swing and miss till we all vomit.
So 3 wins this homestand featured an epic (but flukey) comeback from 5-0, the Pirates error game, and Friday’s ball off the base game. They did get a legit win against the Dodgers that first game (Framber) and probably should have won the Skenes game. That being said, they seem to always hit in Arlington.
And homestand Pitching did well, but the offense is wack. Astros record is 7-8 since the ASB. Offense is <3 runs/game (sans unearned) .
I’m glad you’re finally realizing this stat is meaningless both ways… especially since the last 3 wins they’ve had were all 1 run games that involved some luck. Last night goes from a close game to a blowout (thus not fitting your narrative), but was a worse job of managing vs today.
This is an 80-85 win team because they are running out replacement level players in RF, LF, and 1B and they had their rotation ravaged by injuries which left them with 4 guys who profile as BoR SP on a contender.
One silver lining to this dreadful season is Arrighetti. I think we'll look back on a hugely disappointing season (thanks Espada/Brown) and see how a young talented pitcher has now become our best starter in a couple of years from now.
