Just finished watching this one. Ferris Bueller almost just almost ruined the movie for me. This is my favorite war movie ever made.

Glory is my favorite war movie of all time…and very high on my list of favorite movies ever.

Saving Private Ryan is just incredible, obviously.

A ton of movies that are war related that are great…not sure I’d call Gladiator a war movie (though it certainly starts that way) or Schindler’s List a war movie (given that war is the backdrop and not in the forefront of the story)…

Apocalypse now is my all time favorite movie, so that will top my list. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is set within the Civil War, so I’ll put that in my list. Seems impossible to not have Saving Private Ryan and Full Metal Jacket. Have to think of a fifth. SO many choices. Not a movie, but my mind keeps wandering to Band of Brothers.

Limiting it to those about actual wars that have happened on earth (so no Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, etc.)
    Saving Private Ryan
    Full Metal Jacket
The Bridge On the River Kwai
    We Were Soldiers
    Zero Dark Thirty

    Bonus TV show mentions
    Band of Brothers
    Generation Kill

Hunt for Red October is vastly superior to Crimson Tide

Das Boot is better than both, if we're going submarine.
