Personnel malfeasance trading away a marginally productive bat and replacing him w another rookie and doing nothing else to lengthen the lineup.
Interesting move by Espada to send Ferguson back for a 2nd inning, since he's he's gotten more than 3 outs exactly 3 times this season, 3 last season, twice the year before, etc....He's not a multi-inning guy.
Lineup just doesn't have enough juice. Maybe Leon can add some. Not seeing it at first base despite the homer tonight. Dezenzo should be up within the next two weeks in my opinion. The worst part about Singleton is that his ISO is .117. Tony Kemp had an ISO of .136 with the Astros. Singleton has 7 doubles in 301 plate appearances. How is that even possible. You almost have to try to do that. Brett Wallace was a consistently better major league hitter.
Honestly, as currently constructed, does anyone on this board see the Astros competing for a pennant this season? I don't see it, at all, not even close. Not enough talent on the field. Players are what their stats. say they are. A team is what their record says it is. However, I have been an Astro fan all my life, and will always be an Astro fan. I have suffered thru the "Half- Astro" years, and celebrated the championship runs.
Nah. Probably not. Not unless they get really hot at the right time. It could happen. You never know...
Went to the game, lord the offense was pitiful and every hard hit ball was caught. Not having Tucker and Abreu turning into Ty Lawson has decimated the lineup.
Anything in the playoffs can happen. Just hope they get healthy and stay healthy and get hot when it matters. Look at the Covid season. Played like ****. Made it into the playoffs because of the extra spot. Was 1 win from going to the World Series. Just hope their playoff experiences pays off. *but 1st they need to make it. Division isn't guaranteed and that might be their best chance over a wild card
Rangers and Mariners about to have come back wins. Meanwhile Astros looked dead in the water after going down a run in the middle innings.
Meyers needs a day off. Then he needs to get hot again. I think his red hot May is all that’s saving his stats from Chas levels. Of course his defense has been great. Would be nice if Meyers and Chas could get it going down the stretch. Perhaps Leon can help. We need our outfielders to hit much better than they have. Tucker is still like a month away at minimum. Stop with Dubon though.
Post ASB.... 7-7 record / -7 run-diff 3.5 runs/game -- and that was helped by Cruz's Benny Hill impression Tonight, the offense got shutdown by the great, perennial CY candidate, Zack Littell and his 4.18 ERA. Can't blame bad luck -- the offense from top to bottom just hasn't been producing, but Altuve, Bregman, Yordan are the main guys who need to perform.. Tucker's leg is still missing. Astros needed an extra bat at the deadline but apparently we didn't have enough assets to get it -- that's a whole different discussion considering all wasted money/prospects that has occurred the past few years. This situation is a byproduct of Jabreu's suckage, the insane amount of injuries, and trashcan penalty. Good news tonight: - no new injuries - Big Three got rest (because seemingly we need all of them for every cotdamn win) - the division is still mediocre (1 game behind at the worst)
