Kinda half-joking--realistically, the truth is probably somewhere in between in terms of how the league sees him. He has a non-zero positive value right now, on his rookie contract, and whether that goes down or up depends on his production leading up to the trade deadline. I can see either one happening, or even something like, he's not exactly disappointing but doesn't blow anybody away either. I'm just kinda pessimistic at the moment and I was imagining this as a trade deadline deal. Edit: Meaning, if Jalen doesn't show out leading up to the trade deadline I think his value is at very least, pretty close to zero, since he's going into free agency and will be paid what the market decides he's worth.
Why would Phoenix do this? I think we'd have to give them a lot more for them to part with their main star. You'd need to add in at least one more of our youngsters if we're building it around Jalen and Jabari (arguably the 2 of our youngsters who haven't lived up to their draft potential/position yet.)
Phoenix would ask for the best performing of our young core, it's unlikely they will take question marks like Jalen and Jabari because eventually they have to offer them a contract and that's a huge gamble. I bet if Amen or Reed blows up this year, that's what's going to take to get Booker plus all of their picks.
Jabari is off limits as a throw in. Giving up Jalen and Jabari and picks is not worth it. If Jalen and/or brooks and their picks won’t do it, then wait until the price goes down or somebody else overpays.
I genuinely don't see how Jalen and or Brooks and picks is ever going to net you a top 2-3 shooting guard, all-star and a team's best player? Whilst I'm a Jalen fan and think he'll blow up next season, if we're talking about value right now, his value is not Devin Booker - Booker's what we hope he'll become. If you want to net a team's star player, you have to actually GIVE SOMETHING UP. It's that simple. Chances are you're having to give up either Sengun, or several of Jalen/Jabari/Amen/Cam/Reed as well as their picks. I'd love to see an example of a team trading a star in their prime for a player who hasn't met expectations and a bag of chips, because that's what people are proposing with these Jalen-centric trades. Like fchowd said "Shrodinger's Jalen Green value" both disappointing and as valuable as a star player all at the same time...
Getting their own picks back is way more valuable than getting any team’s picks. The suns 2027 first would be more valuable to the suns than sending booker to the spurs for a bunch of their firsts
How likely do you think it is Amen becomes a shooter? Genuine question because he shoots less than 20% from 3. Booker's a legit shooter/scorer, I don't think Amen ever projects to be close to his level at all on that.
