I'm also disappointed that Leon isn't getting any playing time yet. Since no bats were picked up at the deadline, it would be good to see what Leon could provide. I know they are trying to get Chas bat going but Meyers bat hasn't been doing anything consistently either since his hot May and Meyers is basically an everyday player. Meyers bat isn't good enough to be just given the CF position imo.
Meyers wasn't given the CF position. He earned it. Even with Chas being the least worst of the non-Alvarez healthy OFs the past 2 months, Meyers defense provided enough value to cover his bat.
Click probably was interested in those players, but there’s no evidence at all that he would have given them those contracts. Wanting to sign Abreu for 2 years is WAY different than signing him for 3 years.
Not imo. If Meyers had a great arm I would say so. He's a mediocre bat with a noodle arm. I don't feel the lineup is strong enough now.
Hopefully the extra days rest (and Astros' coaching) Coochie is getting will serve him well -- he last pitched Friday, so the soonest will be this Friday.
Wow still no Leon in the line-up. I get wanting Chas in the line-up to get him going but Leon could've DH'd over Caratini to ease him in.
The odds of Chas and Myers breaking out is greater than Leon being to come up and make a difference. They should do a 3 man rotation between Chas, Myers, and Leon. Two would play depending on matchups.
I agree with this, If we were strong offensively and in LF/DH (opposite Yordan) then he would be absolutely fine in CF But the lineup isn't deep enough. I'm not saying we have a better option, but i'd like to see how Leon can do before he sits too long
