The season didn't end, we gave away 3 guys who were unlikely to really help the 2024 Astros. Will we regret it down the road, maybe, but people are acting like we just gave away multiple top 50 prospects. I hate the trade right now like pretty much everybody, but lets wait to see how our season ends and what Kikuchi contributes before we call it a fireable all time fleecing like people are jumping to right now This is 100% a Dana Brown choice. Even if I may not like the move, I do like that Crane let his GM make his move, come what may. Me and a lot of others complained about Jim Crane telling his GM to shut up and manage the minors.
I was thinking the same thing. We could have signed Bauer FOR THE MINIMUM and kept Bloss, Loperfido and Wagner. Instead we trade the farm for an inferior pitcher.
I saw we got kikuchi and didn’t think much of it. Seeing now what we gave up. Man, I don’t really have words. Just really, really stupid.
Though not a fan of this move, I am going to laugh when Kikuchi comes in here and throws a complete game, no hitter in his first game as an Astro and everyone starts praising the move.........
This season, much like last season, making the playoffs may come down to one game. if this trade helps us win 1 or 2 more games, it may buy us enough time for Garcia and Verlander to come back. I would be pretty comfortable with Framber, Blanco, Brown, and Verlander in the playoffs, but we can't wear them out trying to get there. I don't think Brown thought much of Loperfido because he sent him down even after his hot start and brought up Cabbage. We also have like 5 guys that have his profile in the system. Pedro Leon being the guy that may have figured it out. I also don't think he thought much of Wagner. The only one that hurt was Jake. He had major league talent. He's just too young. That being said, we have a history of spitting good to great pitchers out of our butts. We will see how he if he turns into something special. If so, then it turns into the original Hader trade.
"You guys are gonna looks silly when David Johnson rushes for 2000 yards!" Regardless of results, the process sucks. And that's cause for concern.
To be honest I have seen enough of loperfido striking out and bloss barely going 4 innings. If they think they can bring this guy in and he makes us better or they can make him better then I will just wait and see how thing work out.

Here’s my problem with this board. If we had done nothing, everyone on here would be complaining about Dana not making a trade while ripping him for being a liar, etc. Hell, they were already doing that yesterday before the deal was made. People now are saying “if that was the price I would have rather him stood pat”, but we know damn well those same people wouldn’t have been saying that had he done that. They would have ripped him. So no matter what, he wasn’t going to win on this board.
