All you have to do is look just below the surface level to see that his numbers are actually very good. I do have concerns about the rental aspect. That’s totally fair. But I have to imagine they will try to extend him.

I get where you’re coming from, I really do. Having said that, we just gave up those guys for a mediocre rental. Kikuchi’s contract is up and Crane isn’t about to pay that guy big money.

Now if there’s an agreement for a reasonable contract then I’m all for this trade as Kikuchi has improved a lot over the last few years and our coaching is elite.

Time will tell if that’s the case.

I like Kikuchi and think he is going to be a very big piece of an Astros championship run.

But I thought Bloss alone was too much for him.

I'm fine with 3 players and Wagner feels right in line with where they should be, but Bloss and Loperfido were EACH a step too valuable for a rental #2-3 starter ( and I do think he can perform like a #2).

Reminds me of the Randy Johnson deal, but Kikuchi is no Unit.

But if he pitches well and the Astros win a ring nobody will mind come November

    Already doing it dude.

“Mill and Murph will fix him. Great stuff!”…. From Astros employees drinking the Gatorade.

Kikuchi alone isn’t going to win us a championship.

Joey was my son’s favorite player. Got to talk to him at spring training. Was one of the only kids who knew Joey’s name while we were there. He’s heartbroken. I’m sad.
This Kikutchi guy better light the effing world on fire.

Sorry but how the **** does this remind u of Big Unit trade? Big Unit was one of the best pitcher at the time he was traded. Kikuchi can’t even hold Big Unit jockstrap.

He's a perfectly serviceable pitcher, but not enough to really move the needle. If he wasn't a rental I wouldn't mind it nearly as much, but for 10-12 starts it's a ****ing horrendous return for what Houston gave up.

Yeah - he said he meant “just wait until Murph and Mill get him.”

Which is STUPID because he is a free agent! If they had a couple years on his deal I could understand a leap of faith but not as a free agent.

Just dumb all the way around. I am always respectful to people that this is their job, but I won’t lie - I wanted to ask if Brown has a brain tumor.

If there was one more year of control and we got rid of Montero I would feel WAY better about this. But all of this for 2 months is stupid. Milwaukee gave up way less for Montas and he is comparable to Kikuchi (would take Kikuchi).

And we still need another pitcher because all we did was swap one out for another.
