I'm hoping for more of the Atlanta model. Best case Kikuchi changed pitch sequence and his stuff lives up to the SP2 his stuff says he should be and a WS title happens. Then he re-signs with the Stros. Worst case is the Sanchez guy Luhnow traded with Toronto for. All kinds of variables in between. Loperfido/Bloss and Wagner are going to be solid MLB players, the question is what's their ceiling? Dana thinks they're going to be decent players, but Kukichu is going to be a key cog in bringing another ring to Crawford.
That’s what happens when you open your mouth as a GM and make it known you’re looking for SP #fleeced
Yes, there was. Several reports over the last few days about multiple teams being in on Kikuchi. He didn’t panic. Some of the reactions I’m seeing are just so insanely dramatic. The world is not falling. People talking about us being set back 5 years. Brown is the worst GM and should be fired. Brown doesn’t know what he’s doing. Our future is screwed because we don’t have our Tucker and Bregman replacements. Give me a damn break. You mean to tell me that three guys, none of whom were consensus top 100 prospects, are the future of this franchise? And that Dana Brown, the same guy who has a history of drafting well and has made some really nice decisions/additions (thinking Scott and Blanco to SP specifically) should all of a sudden be fired? Because he traded away three guys who aren’t consensus top 100? Get real. Maybe it does blow up in our face, but the majority of the reactions tonight have been so damn dramatic. It’s ridiculous.
I certainly have my concerns about the influence of guys like Bagwell, and I wish we would be more hard line analytically driven like we were with Click and Luhnow. And I wish Crane would stop getting involved in so many FA and trade decisions. But acting like this specific trade is going to be the downfall of the Astros is wildly over reactionary.
