Problem is... no one else valued Kikuchi at the level of a Randy Johnson caliber player.

While I get the sentiment, Dana's nowhere near as bad as BOB.

Just don’t understand how you trade two layers of the big league club and a top prospect for a rental??

Keep waiting for the rest of the deal to be revealed, but Sadi think this is it.

Toronto got Teoscar Hernandez for Francisco Liriano last Time.

Dana Brown needs to be fired after this failed season. James Click basically stole 2 Franchise Players and a solid Role Player.

James Click took Dana Brown to GM School.

I wouldn't say for now, but certainly in the future.

That’s a perfectly valid point. I would counter and say that as long as he’s a quality #2-3 guy rest of the way, and if the trio of prospects don’t amount to a whole lot (which is very plausible) then it’s a fine deal. And it becomes even better if he performs at that level and we can extend him.

Again, I know I’m being more optimistic than most.

Also, this trade could indicate that other teams don’t value those three guys nearly as much as we do as fans.

I'm shocked, but not surprised. Our GM panicked. If this is really it, it's one of the worst trades I can ever remember this team making, and it does almost nothing as far as moving the needle towards winning a pennant. I'm absolutely sick right now. Our GM is in over his head.

I don’t like this trade but there are some wild takes in here on Kikuchi talking about how he sucks, makes the team worse, etc.

His xFIP is 3.37 and he had an ERA of 3.26 on June 11th before this run of bad starts. The teams he faced to arrive at that 3.26 ERA? TB, NYY, SEA, NYY, KC, LAD, WSH, MIN, BAL, CWS, DET, PIT, BAL, MIL. Outside of that CWS-PIT stretch, that’s a crazy tough schedule. Gave up 2 runs total in those starts against NYY and BAL in over 20 innings.

It’s not crazy to think they have an idea on how to get him back on track. He’s got the stuff.

appreciate the optimism, but this guy has NEVER been a quality pitcher in his career. Good luck fixing that in 2 months.

Toronto would have dealt him without a 3rd player thrown in, which would have provided some ammunition for a second trade.

I already thought it was bad before Loperfido and Wagner. This is just terrible. The worst is this trade didn't fix anything near term, which is usually the trade off for mortgaging the future.

I'm just at a loss, I keep waiting for a further announcement of more players coming back but it's not happening.

What the hell happened to this franchise?

Never said it was. He dominated them too. As with MIN and KC. All teams we might face in the playoffs, which is my point.
