I didn't (or don't) expect anything momentous to come from negotiations with North Korea, nor do I much care. I don't really believe in non-proliferation.
It would go a long way if NK would send Trump a big McDonald's meal (hold the bread...diet) with an apology written on a napkin. Use Uber to deliver the meal from the nearest McDonald's to the White House.
North Korea ‘Stood Up’ U.S. Team During Summit Prep, White House Official Says Pottinger revealed that the White House sent an advance team to Singapore–including at least one deputy chief of staff—to meet with the North Koreans and discuss logistics for the possible summit. “There they waited for three days,” Pottinger told conference callers. “The North Koreans never showed up. They never told us anything. They just stood us up.” “Over the last six days the United States made numerous attempts to communicate with the North Koreans and they never responded to any of those efforts to communicate and to coordinate in advance of the 12 June summit,” Pottinger said.
LOL, trump (and his supporters) are so desperate to find any positive way to spin this... (1) NK has been hoping for a meeting like this for years to show their leader alongside a U.S. president, but past presidents have turned them/him down. (2) NK is simply continuing to make trump and U.S. look bad by making NK appear to be the reasonable side (since trump and the U.S. appeared to be the country that pulled out). And trump's parenthetic "and talent"... too funny!
This is to be expected from these pure shills. What is more embarrassing is the people in the mainstream media who treated the Trump-Kim summit like it was a real thing with real chances. Like, look the NYT has a "News Analysis" piece today breaking down all the reasons for the summit collapse. This News Analysis can be summed up in 4 words - He's a f-king idiot. This also hearkens back to all of the major news outlets admonishing us with "if Trump pulls this off" pieces back in March and April. The guy's a bullshit-encrusted buffoon and basically reverse King Midas for any type of complicated problem that requires effort or thought or concentration beyond pure instinct and wingiing it. Whenever Trump succeeds it's generally in spite of himself. He was a terrible businessman but was born rich enough and lied/defrauded people enough to make it to where he was. He's a horrendous ogre of a human being and you wouldn't want him in your house, let alone the white house, but Russian hacking and the collapse of American norms, some good old fashioned racism, as well as the wacky electoral system got him to become President. He deserves no benefit of the doubt. This has been proven repeatedly.
