I heard this a couple days ago there are more Prime subscribers than cable subscirbers thats why the league is hell bent on Amazon getting the package.
This is the type of simplistic stuff that the internet and ESPN followers will eat up and use to argue why the NBA doesn't care about fans, which is inaccurate. It's a lot more complex than how Charles presents it here. And to make it a conspiracy theory that they were intent to shut down TNT is just silly. WBD had a chance to re-new their deal before the NBA sought elsewhere. Zaslav got cocky and refused to make an offer. He should point the finger at that *******, not Silver and the league. Btw, watch him continue under ESPN / Amazon and become a hypocrite once again.
Left out that NBC has the opening day double-header. Since TNT and ESPN shared Christmas it's kind of crazy NBC given their investment do not get the TNT slots.
According to Google, in the USA alone, there were 65.9 miilion cable subscribers last year and 167.2 Amazon Prime members. I had no idea it was so lopsided. No wonder the NBA is so bent on adding Amazon as a partner.
Thank God. Never could tolerate the "banter;" always muted the TNT broadcasts' studio segments. Actually wore out the mute button and had to buy a new remote a few years ago! My fear is one of the streamers will hire the same cast of knuckleheads.
Good thing I knew that those retirement crap coming out of his mouth was nothing but a negotiation tactic. Lies all of it.
Everyone knew Barkley was full of it and it didn’t even makes sense to make threats, since Zaslav could just say: you are under contract.
I'm not going to assume Barkley and company don't really know much about leisurely life, other then golfing and that nature, because somehow it would be twisted into political incorrectness. But commenting and or analyzing on TNT or another medium is what sustain these guys to live and they can't imagine their lives without it at this point other then evitable death.
