I would 100% take Quantrill and Diaz. Honestly, I’m getting the feeling it’s not even going to be that good though.
Very disappointed we didn’t land Paredes. It’ll be interesting to see what the Cubs gave up. Shows how much rumors mean. I hadn’t heard of them on the radar for Paredes at all.
Morel and prospects Hunter Bigge and Ty Johnson. No clue about prospects but wasn't Morel supposed to be decent but just having a down year. Yeah seemed like they were only reporting contenders for Paredes but with multiple years left, makes sense why a non contending team would still trade for him.
Yeah that was me. Would a team pick up his contract for free? They said if no one picks him up, they could just keep him like what the Jays did with Kiermaier
Rays must really like the players they’re getting from the Cubs. Morel will probably end up being better than Paredes. Neither of the pitching prospects were highly rated.
Morel was a promising player but man he is having a year to forget. He's essentially a Paredes replacement if he can get back on track at the plate.
Morel is absolutely atrocious as a fielder. I wonder if they will try to move him to first or just DH him?
Who knows. They move guys around a lot so I would guess he’ll play a little bit of all 4 corners and DH based on their other players and matchups.
As a generality, does this mean that the limited gunpowder the Astros have for trades is being saved for starting pitching?
I have no reason to believe this other than a hunch - but I think we will end up with two arms from the same team coming over for prospects and an outfielder. a starter and a reliever. meh.
It means they didn’t offer the best deal to teams at this point. The Astros wanted to get their business done early but it hasn’t happened. There are still players available out there to help. As for Paredes, I would have dealt Brown for him but I’m in the minority and understand why the Astros decided against it.
Was Brown the asking price? Or is that who you would have offered as the center piece? What's the asking price for Diaz?
