Oh I totally agree. Just wild to think about the returns. The Rays are such an incredibly well run organization.

They think he is still good. He has been good for years but I’ll admit with the work load he had and the lesser performance this year makes me wonder.

I’d give up as much as it takes to get Paredes. He is the perfect fit for the next 3 years. If we keep Bregman and trade Tucker we are set at 1b with a plus bat. If we keep Tucker and let Bregman go we have our third base replacement unless one of our prospects turns it on early next year, in which case Paredes could stay at first. Starting pitching this year would be great, but I think we are in good hands next year. By then, Garcia should be back and Blanco will be stretched out. Framber, Brown, Garcia, Blanco, Javier is a really good start towards an elite pitching staff. Of course we will be giving up a bunch of depth in our minor leagues to make it happen, but it seems like a really sound gamble to me.

Disagree, prospects going in opposite direction

Lesko is the name guy, but the Rays are just taking a shot on a guy hoping their people can turn him in the right direction

The guys the Marlins got from the Skanks are guys that didn't have the prospect names, but are shooting up prospect boards. If those guys were in our system the guys on here that really pay a lot of attention to prospects would be saying by all means don't trade this guy

Agreed. Though, everyone else wants him too and we probably don’t have enough. Price is likely too high even with our best offer. Sure would help us build on and keep division lead if we could land him.

    Maybe it’s Yandy Diaz instead.

Sword says he'll look around the clubhouse and if he sees someone acting differently during the trade deadline, he goes up to them and gives them a hug. That it's common for some of the players to browse social media after the game and get anxious. Tells them, "Being a major leaguer is a hard to do. Be proud."

    My hope

    Flaherty, Cimber, Torkelson

    My guess

Quantrill, Yandy Diaz (for a couple of prospects that the prospect guys on this board ain't gonna like giving up, even if they aren't "highly rated") and a reliever that none of us are thinking about

I would gamble on Snell and hopefully he doesn't get injured. Depending on how he does JV's money could come in handy when it comes to bringing back Snell, Bregs etc...

Any interest in Josh Bell? Or not much better than Singleton? Bell is currently on a hot streak but prior to that, was he inconsistent?? Cost should be lowish right?

He's a 2nd half guy and has done some damage in the post season. Wouldn't hurt to throw a bone.

Looks like a move we've done before with Mancini

I think Crane would take the chance on Snells contract for that, especially since we seem to know that Dana has no plans on Leon being a part of the big club

Not sure if Giants wants Montero's contract. Didn't Nook say they are having issues with money or something. Also heard that Giants might want expiring contracts which would make sense if money is a concern.

I mean/ of course they don’t want monteros contract but they want Snells even less. They aren’t going to the playoffs, still owe him 12M, and if God forbid (for them) he gets hurt they owe him 33M next year and will get get nothing out of him. The tax to get them out of that is taking on Monteros shitty but much less shitty contract.
put another way- they get out of 11M this year and the chance of getting stuck with 33M for a lemon next year for the cost of 14M for Montero, and pick up Leon and Whitley along the way.
from our perspective we take on a bunch of risk, and some salary, to roll the dice on the idea Blake Snell is a bonafide ace.

If the Rangers lose today and get swept by Toronto, it would not shock me if they pivot back to being sellers. They trail 6-0 right now

Be interesting to see the prospects heading to Tampa in addition to Morel
