I also shared hotel rooms with female coworkers in the past...but it wasn't to save the company money...

This web page gives the specs - requirements for the assistance on the generator purchase.
FEMA Assistance for Generators Following Hurricane Beryl

There is a Menu Bar at the top of the page and the choice on the far right is

    Apply For Assistance

Click on that and it takes you to

    Disaster Assistance

I don't have anything to claim, so I ended my journey there.

    Apply here: https://www.disasterassistance.gov/

Submission process is confusing, but I think I've got it. On that website, you fill out your personal information and reason for application. There is not a specific choice for generator reimbursement, but there is a choice for utilities outage.

You submit the application (even though it feels incomplete because it doesn't say anything about generators or have you upload your receipt). After submitting the application, you can log into the website to submit the receipt by going to 'upload center', then select 'Other Miscellaneous' for Assistance Type, then 'Other Estimate/Receipt' for Document Type.

After a couple of days, my application says 'Pending' so I think I did it right.

The eligibility requires the purchase to be made in a specific date range and you have to live specific counties.

The allowable amount for generator is $629 for a May 2024 storm. https://www.fema.gov/fact-sheet/costs-generators-and-chainsaws-may-be-reimbursable
So i think that's what FEMA defines as 'market rate of a 5.5kw generator'.

Finally got my breaker box connection yesterday. After watching the electrician work I realized I could have done it myself. I'm just paranoid about working with the main line.

Going to plumb the natural gas line this weekend and should be ready to go for the next mother****ing hurricane.

How much did it cost and did they have to pull a permit or anything?

Oh ok. I was like $450 will get you a generator that can power a lamp.

With a potential storm hitting us, figured it was a good time to bump. I still haven't plumbed my NG, I guess I'll do that this week.

We were planning on doing that for a long time. After the last storm hit, we were without power for several days. That was the last straw. Got ours done last month.

I’m wired up and can work on gasoline now. Just procrastinated on the NG connection.
