Montero and cash I could see. Chas should not be anywhere near being traded for a prospect right now. If he's not included in a high value player this year then trade him in the off season.

I understand what you’re selling. Due to Chas’ performance thus far this season- his trade value has certainly taken a hit. His homerun today was encouraging but unfortunately I don’t think Chas’ trade value will ever be higher than it was this past off-season. If he gets traded, it will be because the Astros feel like they are upgrading the position.

So what’s the plan in a trade for Paredes? Try and trade Bregman to make room for Paredes?

Paredes would play 1B the rest of this season then move over to 3B next season.

No- play him at 1st this year and then takes over at 3rd for Bregman after the offseason.

Tampa is said to like Chas.

I definitely would put him in a trade for Paredes and I would wish Chas well and thank him for probably the biggest catch in Stros history. Love me some Chas.

Bonkers stat: Mariners starters have an ERA of 2.06 in the last 9 games. They are 1-8 in those games. I have a feeling they'll be out there driving the price up for every bat on the market.

What position is that? He is a fourth or fifth outfielder at this point.

There are not near enough rumors up in here; this isn't a ******* drill, people! Deadline is in five days. I need rampant speculation, bullshit trade suggestions, updates on who and who may not be available - both from reputable and more questionable sources (like Carlo Beltran's niece).

I'm really disappointed in, well, all of you. Let's do better!

We can circle back in 5 years to see if he played more than 50% of his teams games or even just how many full seasons he actually played. So far, he can't stay healthy so a pass.

The more I read the more I think there might be a market for McCormick. There are quite a few teams with mediocre farms and limited payroll flexibility looking for a RH OF bat. Plus for Houston, adding McCormick softens the market for other bats slightly. But it only makes sense if Houston is extremely confident that Tucker will be back in the next 3-4 weeks.

We desperately need another reliable SP (we can all agree on that). Given how many teams are still in the WC hunt I just have a feeling we're going to be disappointed with what Brown is going to be able to do given how many other teams need SP as well. The limited players who will be available (and that would be an upgrade) there's so many teams that could offer better packages.

Off the top of my head who's potentially available:

    Crochet
    Fedde
Skubal (don't think the Tigers will trade him)
    Flaherty
    Taillon
    Luzardo
    Paxton
    T.Anderson
    Eflin
    Kikuchi
Bassitt (Jay's hold on to him signed for '25)
    Gausman (signed for '25 + '26)
    Berrios (signed for '25 + '26)

    Teams that need SP:
    BAL
    NYY
    BOS
    MIN
    KC
    CLE
    TEX
    LAD
    SD
    AZ
    STL
    MIL
    ATL

Hope I'm pleasantly surprised that Brown can swing a deal but again just think there's teams who will be able to offer better packages. We'll find out Tuesday evening.

I’d love to bring Neris back as the reliever add.

    My ideal playoff staff..

    1. Blanco
    2. Valdez
    3. JV
    4. Brown
    5. Skubal/Eflin/T. Anderson, etc
    6. Garcia
    7. Hader
    8. Pressly
    9. Abreu
    10. Neris
    11. Scott
    12. Martinez
    13. Murfee/McCullers/Montero/Bloss/Arrighetti

I personally feel like Chas will be traded for a relief pitcher.

Astros, Braves, Cardinals Reportedly Interested In Zach Eflin

The Astros have also had their share of rotation challenges this year, with Cristian Javier and José Urquidy both requiring Tommy John surgery. Luis Garcia has yet to return from his own TJS operation from last year while Lance McCullers Jr. is still trying to get back from his own elbow procedure. Justin Verlander is also on the shelf with a neck injury.

Their current rotation consists of Framber Valdez, Hunter Brown, Ronel Blanco, Spencer Arrighetti and Jake Bloss. Brown has recovered from an awful start to the season but each of Blanco, Arrighetti and Bloss is lacking in experience. Blanco only recently moved to the rotation after years of bullpen work while Arrighetti and Bloss are rookies who both have ERAs north of 5.60 so far this year.

Like Atlanta, Houston is set to pay the CBT this year but they have far more wiggle room. Houston’s CBT number is currently at $256MM, per RR. That’s just shy of the $257MM second line but crossing that only comes with a slight bump in tax rate and no draft pick penalties.

It’s no garm trade deadline thread, that’s for sure.
