He didn't get an extension because I'm sure he wants a max and he isn't good enough for one yet. That's why. Jalen Green does not deserve the max as of July 23 2024. And Sengun is the best player on the team currently. It's like trying to express empathy for Palestinians. You gotta do these qualifiers about how you hate Hamas to not trigger people that you express empathy for Palestinians. Any time I talk about Green with you ****s, I guess I just gotta say those lines before I make an argument that has nothing to do with me saying Green deserves a max now. Maybe I should put those two sentences in a signature so no one gets triggered if I defend Green.
The fanbase talk of a noticeable change in Jalen’s driving/finishes started mid-January. It’s OK if we don’t recall, because the whole month wasn’t solid, by any stretch. I was just wondering if anyone else remembers the chatter? This might refresh memories. Here’s Frank discussing the change in his Jan 30th segment, starting with Det game, Keep watching if you want driving stats, too… That DET game was also when RocketsWatch started discussing a noticeable change. It was talk like, “I don’t care what the results are, but Jalen just looks different.” — ie, renewed hope type talk.
Look, you are definitely frustrated and thats not my intention but stop pointing your finger at Sengun fans at every chance in every discussion forum. There is little name calling to JG fans by Sengun fans, but the opposite is not true. We, meaning Sengun fans, also dont attack JG necessarily but you do that under a false claim of measured criticism. You, for example, bring Sengun in a very negative way into every conversation about JG...even at JG forums. You remember why I was angry with you last time? This is also a basketball forum and let's keep it that way. You can give examples from basketball to express yourself. 2: I dont expect you to talk positively about Sengun every time. Sengun had weak performances against centers like Zubac, Porzingis, and Valanciunas. Why do you think he is working his butt off to strengthen his core and feet speed. Last season, I said both Jabari and Sengun needs to gain 20 lbs to compete at the highest level. It seems Sengun is working on that. I dont know what Jabari is doing but hopefully, he is working his butt off, too. I also dont think we mean the same thing, when we define BBIQ. Thats why I tried to give a definition on page 5 of this forum. JG's background is different than the other core 7. I dont think him not playing in NCAA or in Europe served him well. He didn't play a systems basketball until coming to NBA. Silas didn't teach him ****. For the first time in his life he is working with a good systems coach. So the learning curve is wider for him. All others in the core, played somehow systems basketball either in NCAA or Europe. Most here would agree Sengun, for example, is a high BBIQ player. You know why? Because he has been playing within a system since he is 12. He left his parents' home for a boarding school to play basketball when he was 12. He has been working with real basketball coaches since then. Well, except Silas, I guess. JG will catch up hopefully this season. It will make me happy at least. Sengun and JG are good friends. If they can flourish together, sky is the limit for the team but JG needs to focus on basketball and work hard...er! Anyhoo, peace! Tell "the kiddo" hi from me
I think the people who loved kpj but hate jalen is probably the weirdest thing on this site. I guess they view it as picking a side and sticking to it no matter what but it’s so odd
It's simply a different time. When the Rockets got KPJ they had nothing going for them at all and they picked up a guy with all the talent in the world with superstar upside. At the time it was worth seeing if he could make something of himself even if who he was off the court derailed his career ultimately. When it comes to a #2 overall pick the expectations were higher and the performance has been worse. Pretty much the worst combination. We're 3 years in and Jalen is still nowhere near as good as KPJ was his last season here. Jalen has nowhere near the skills. At this point, the team isn't a bottom tier tanking team, so I can't understand how anyone is willing to tolerate a player as bad as Jalen Green still logging major minutes praying that maybe one day if we put up with his bs for long enough, he'll turn into a starting quality player.
Ya kpj year 4 was better but years 1-3 jalen was better. We’ll see what jalen does year 4, that was the first year kpj played at a roster-able level
Sure, but it's not exactly apples to apples, Jalen came in and was immediately given the keys to the franchise and allowed to do whatever he wanted whenever he wanted and KPJ was kind of dicked around getting yanked in and out of the lineup, down to the G league and back up again. He only really got 2 seasons and he looked better in his second season than Jalen ever has. It doesn't really matter though, because 1. He screwed it up by being an idiot off the court and 2. Last season was going to be his "look good or get out" season. We wouldn't have put up with him not making a leap just like we shouldn't put up with Jalen not making a leap now. I am interested though to see if KPJ looks better in his attempted comeback than Jalen does this season, though obviously there will be a difference in volume with Jalen still allowed to be a mindless chucker and KPJ likely in a much different role. The end season TS% and WS/48 will be interesting to compare though I expect KPJ to struggle quite a bit....so Jalen SHOULD be better, but if he's not, he shouldn't be a Rocket anymore.
People like him think sports iq is merely just intelligence. If anyone has been involved in any physical activity that involves bumping into 200 lb athletes you know most of sports iq involves just the ability to have composed thoughts and still have awareness around you while being bumped and harassed. That's most of what IQ is when it comes to physical sports. The ability to be beaten around, pushed, hands over the face, hands trying to swipe the ball and still process the court.
Wait what? LOL - How did I miss this......my days of playing ball are long behind me, I retired like 15 years ago - due to foot issues. My BBall IQ was off the charts good though, I saw things on the floor before they happened and was able to thread passes through a needle with either hand.......my team won most games, was an ok shooter, not great, but a GREAT passer - and a pretty good defender. Sorry I missed you, but I was in Germany on a Luxury Cruise line on the Rhine river - celebrating 30 years of marriage - but golly wish I could have measured my e-penis instead against you.......NOT ! DD
This is subjective. Green played passively the first half of last season and parts of the second half often avoiding bigs as he comes off a screen or gets by his initial perimeter defender. He attacked bigs more later in the season especially in that great streak. Driving on bigs is part of the game if you feel you can take them or if they are out of position. He loses the ball sometimes due to his ball protection and transitions to layups. He often brings it high or he cradles it before a layup or dunk. Some guys time this and rip him. That’s not an example of basketball IQ to me. That’s about technique. Then again I don’t like the term BB IQ in the first place since it isn’t clearly defined and open to a lot of interpretation.
All while battling fatigue on a nightly basis as well as lingering injuries that pile up. I try to hoop every Saturday in the Alief area with some friends, that sh** is tougher than most people expect. I took an entire month off (family/friends duties) and came back out of rhythm, with my shot all over the place. I have the utmost respect for all these athletes that perform for years at such a high level, especially when they reach their late 30 early 40s age range. I'm 38 and my body is already breaking down on me, hard.
lmao I always thought we could start a thread where we settle disputes on the court. Date time place. Bring ya ass and Come and get served lol. Too bad I don’t live in Houston or TX anymore
