That's for sure. What a disgust POS. Imagine calling 911 for help and getting shot in the face by some disgusting POS cop sent there to protect you while standing in your kitchen with a pot of hot water.

It's an election year summer -- time for racial emotions to be stirred up! Don't be played, people. He's going to prison just like all the other murderers. Statistically, this is uncommon compared to the reverse.

 

Since training has been brought up I will continue to say that further training is needed.

Of course not all training is the same
And the wrong kind of training will make things worse. Just last night I was teaching a takedown technique that is not lethal. It’s painful and has the potential to cause injury but it avoids the neck or chest. That is the type of training along with de escalation training that they need more of.

 

I can’t watch the video, but the cop seems like a psycho. The senselessness is so disturbing.

 

If you want the truth (which you probably don't)... It's an issue of pattern recognition. Police officers in certain areas encounter patterns repeatedly... and then they are very cautious around people that fit the pattern.. and react strongly as a survival mechanism. It's human nature -- which is why solving racism is very difficult. It's how our brains are wired to process decisions faster -- we recognize patterns and react accordingly. It's what has kept the species alive for all these years, but it has collateral damage when people are treated unfairly.

 

Yes from what I've been hearing this morning he shouldn't have been an LEO based on his record. He had been at a few different PD's and also had left the military with very little to show for it.

Weeding out and hiring practices greatly need to be improved but this is an unintended side affect of LE reform that as budgets are cut to PD's they have less money to vette hires and are unable to retain better officers.

 

Indeed, people (especially in law enforcement) will often be implicitly biased against someone according to their skin color, because of a pattern recognition they have internalized. There is a word for this type of “pattern recognition”.

 

I'm going a layer deeper than you are -- to try to get to the root of the problem. Yelling racism hasn't really worked as a solution, has it?

 

I'm starting to think you don't want to solve the problem. Too bad. Have to be willing to have an open discussion without shutting down and/or yelling -- Step 1. Expect no change if everyone behaves this way.
