Nevermind. I didn't notice that he had Tari lower than Cam for some reason.

The difference between Tari and Cam in terms of basketball IQ is Tari knows what his job is on the court more than Cam.

Yeah I agree with most… Cam’s BB IQ is somewhere between Swaggy P and 2018 JR Smith.

Here’s to hoping Udoka can crack some sense into him.

    You nailed the top three.

I have a hard time putting Tari Eason that low. His instinctual IQ on defense might be the best on the team. I'd put him over Jabari and Cam in this regard.

    1)Alpi
    2)Reed
    3)Amen
    Gap
    4)Tari
    5)Jabari
    6)Jalen
    7)Cam

I only ranked our core 7. I do not think FVV or Brooks will be here long term.

Yeah, Tari is tricky because on one hand, he's got very good defensive instincts, on the other he has pretty awful instincts on offense and is very prone to getting tunnel vision.

That's why I think it's fair to put him kind of in the middle. He'll look like a defensive savant one moment, then do some of the most boneheaded **** imaginable on offense.

Also, despite the fact this is clearly criticism, he's still one of my favorite players on the team.

I've seen far too many 3-1 fastbreaks end in a charge with Cam leading the way for him to be anything but the bottom drawer in terms of what we are saying is "IQ". Mid-tier? comon man

Jalen has good basketball instincts and generally makes decent decisions, he's just not executing or hitting his shots. Most of his turnovers are well intended... Alot of it has to do with adjusting to the speed and strength of defenses. There has been some improvement here, I don't get the narrative that he is a "dumb" player.

The couple of people who put him dead last are trolling btw. They don't actually believe that.

But for some others who put him lower than guys like Tari and Bari, it's a bigotry of lower expectations thing. They are asked to do less therefore I guess they make "less mistakes"? Tari has more turnovers than assists in his career so far. He's a great hustle guy with good athleticism. But ya, for the people who put Jalen lower and are sincere and aren't trolling it's Jalen just having higher expectations and being asked to do a lot more on offense than those other guys.

    My ranking if anyone cares:

    Tier 1
    1. Fred
    2. Sengun
    3. Reed (might be No.1 eventually)
    4. Amen
    ----
    Tier 2
    5. Jeff Green
    6. Jalen Green
    7. Tari
    8. Jabari
    9. Cam (this one may not be fair, we need to see more)
    10. The rest just need to play their respective roles

Agreed. Tari is a player that is not being asked to create (particularly, not against starters), so there should be less margin of error. To be clear, I don't think any of our guys are dumb, we got rid of those in Wood and KPJ who were very talented but couldn't see the forest for the trees.

People often confuse IQ and Game Feel which can be categorized differently. In terms of IQ its:

    S Tier - Amen/Sengun/Reed
    A Tier - No one
B Tier - Jabari Smith Jr
    C Tier - Tari Eason/Jalen Green/Cam Whitmore

In terms of Game Feel its:

    S Tier - Amen/Sengun/Reed/Tari
    A Tier - Jalen Green
    B Tier - Cam Whitmore
    C Tier - Jabari Smith

I do think whether people like it or not, Tari Eason is #4 on the prospects list right now above Jalen/Cam/Jabari. He's a chaos merchant and has a propensity for making something out of nothing.

    1) Amen. Elite IQ on both ends of the floor.
    2) Sengun. Amazing offensively. Solid defensively.
    3) Reed. I wouldn't be surprised if he jumps up but this is his floor. He reads the game like a top point guard, I see some CP3.

4/5) Tari and Jabari interchangeably. Both seem intelligent defenders. Tari clearly has the instinct for an offensive rebound too but otherwise might be lacking.

5/6) take you pick out of Jalen and Cam. Cam is younger so I have hope but so far nothing amazing I terms of IQ. Jalen still dribbles into crowds and takes ridiculous shots as if he thinks he is James Harden.

Build round the top 3 and hope Tari and Jabari fill out the starting 5.

I was just thinking that it's hard for me to think total BBIQ and needed it broken down between offense and defense.
Just looking at the young core I would grade (Off intelligence/Def intelligence) in alphabetical order:
    1. Amen B+/A-
    2. Cam B/C+
    3. Jabari C/B
    4. Jalen A/F
    5. Reed A-/B-
    6. Sengun A/B-
    7. Tari B-/A-

Can't see Cam not in the bottom for both categories. The only thing I think Cam does well in terms of BBIQ is looking for steals, otherwise he's a headless chicken on both offense and defense.

    Sengun: A/B-
Amen: B-/A (Amen's lack of fundementals on offense limits his IQ)
    Jabari: C-/B+
    Jalenn: B-/C-
Tari: C-/B- ( I think Tari gets away a lot with his bad decisions on both O and D simply because of his hustle and ridiculous long wingspan)
    Cam: C-/C-
