i make a lot of long distance calls to canada, i was on verizon's america's choice plan, and this worked out just fine since those calls were free. well last month i tried to change my plan to increase my daytime minutes, told the guy to upgrade my plan, exact same one i had but just more minutes, he said no problem. then i get my bill and they charged me for all those calls (bill was in the $1,000 neighborhood). anyway, i still have over a year on my contract, but im thinking its probably time to change services. especially because my previous 2 bills were 200 and 300 bucks (thats why i tried to change my plan). so guess what im askin is if i change, who has the best plans available right now, and best coverage? ie if you travel it roams ok, doesnt drop a lot of calls. i havent had any problems with verizon, but i think im paying too much 60 bucks for 800 mins and like 6 or 7 bucks i think for i think 500 or a 1000 txt messages. thanks
T-MOBILE. Ive used just about every carrier. They are by are the best. They have the best plans, best phones and best customer service.
Why not just call their customer service and explain the situation. If you were able to make those calls before without being charged, you were probably billed incorrectly. Let them know. If they are worth keeping as your carrier, they'll work it out. I've only ever had one bill problem with Sprint and they fixed it quickly and found a couple ways to save me a few bucks on my normal monthly bill.
You should just call Verizon and explain everything. They should help you out. If they can't, then you look elswhere. I'm with Tmobile and they do have good rates, cool phones, and decent service (though they screwed with my friend's bill big-time and took a long time to correct.) However, here in New York their coverage pales in comparison to Verizon. Verizon's national coverage is also amazing. I used to be with Verizon three years ago and only now do I see how spoiled I was. I'm switching to Verzion once my one year contract with Tmobile is up. Customer service is nice, but strong signal, clear reception and no dropped calls is what it's all about.
oh think i forgot to mention, they took canada off of the "america's choice" plan that i was on about a month or so ago, but it was working for me cuz they just had me on the plan i was signed up on. when i changed, it changed me to the new one that doesnt have canada on it. to get the long distance there now, you have to sign up for a plan that doesnt have free nights/weekends
Cingular if you have it in your area is real nice. And the rollover minutes are a big big plus. I have Tmobil, and have always been a big fan, but recently they have dissapointed me much.
I use TMobile personally and so does everyone around me so thats a big plus (due to the TMobile to TMobile call plan) but it actually depends on the coverage for the area you live in
I painfully admit that I used to WORK for Sprint and "enjoyed" Sprint service, but I am definitely converted to T-Mobile. I don't much like their phones, though.
I have had sprint since they came out in 97 and i haven't really had any problems with them. I have been upgrading my phone each time i want through most of their customer service so i can't say i have had problems. I like T-Mobile but the rates for the things i get now are a lot higher. I play like 79.99 a month for 2000 anytime and free interent and unlimited text messaging. I checked out TMobile cause i was thinking of changing but you have to pay like 10 bucks a month extra for internet and another 6 bucks for like 300 text messages a month. It all comes out the same to me.
SPRINT SUCKS. Customer service from hell stories from hell are enough to fill that thread thats going on. And GSM phones are so much sweeter. NOT TMOBILE ones necessarily, but just GSM phones, and its so much easier replacing a broke phone, unlike with sprint.
I guess it all depends on everyones experience. I havne't had any really bad experiences with them. Everytime my phone broke i would call them and just talk to them and they sent me a new one right now. I do like GSM phones for the fact that they are easier to switch out than sprint where i have to enter all the numbers again. BUt like i said i never had a problem with them at all.
Just have to go and talk to someone higher and leave the little peons out of it. If you talk to them you are not going to get anywhere. It's all about getting to a higher level person and explaining the situation. That's how i have resolved most of my issues.
DUde, they signed me and about 9 other ppl I know to a 2 yr contract automatically after the first 2 were over, and I didn't say anything at first, but then my fone broke about 1 month into the 2nd 2 yr contract, and they said that Iwould have to wait until the 2 years are over. Lets just say a few calls to the lawyers, and some threatening of the manager got me out of sprints service....
That's crazy. never heard that one before. Every time my contract is over it's just over and i can change my plan if i want or anything like that. I have never been renewed automatically. Guess you got the bad end of the stick.
gsm, in dummy words, is basically a service that stores all of your numbers and contacts on a chip instead of the phone itself. If you decide to switch phones with another gsm phone, just switch the chip, and you transfer your number, your contacts, all with you. And it takes about 1 minute to do all of this. Plus with GSM phones all around you, its even easier because every country exceppt for USA uses mostly GSM phones. And GSM phones are so varied that they have so many better functions and such.
I think you have that confused with a SIM card, but yeah GSM compatable phones use them GSM is a globalized network and I think all major US networks use GSM as well as CDMA (Verizon)
