The only decision is will they pay Jalen. There is absolutely less than zero chance Sengun does not receive the max so what you are basically saying is there is no way for Jalen to get the max if we can't pay both guys.
AD, Embid maybe in the same league but they are aging vets not contemporaries and since neither seems to be able to stay on the court I’d leave them out. What’s exciting about Paolo? He is one of the most meh guys in the nba and his stats suck compared to Sengun’s
More impactful? AD, Jokic, Embiid, maybe Bam, in their career with others still to be determined. More exciting? I dare say Sengun still remains better, he is basically the creativity of Jokic in an athletic and fearless package, like a guard playing center. Maybe Paolo/Wemby will get there for different reasons. I think this question is heavily favored towards personal taste.
If someone would post something like "Myles Turner is more exciting player than Sengun" on a Pacers forum, he'd be mocked for days but here we are. In what world Myles Turner is more exciting player than Sengun? Even Myles Turner himself would laugh at it. lmao.
Ya i find someone like peak dwight Howard far more exciting to watch then a steph curry, because the stuff dwight did is my favorite part of basketball so to me steph is boring.
In no way is Turner a contemporary of Alp. The others? I can see an argument for preference, Wemby would be the only young guy I would take over Alp. Turner is a terrible defender, soft and a below average rebounder. Yes he blocks shots and shoots 3s, but that’s about it
Alpe Says: Is it easier to score in NBA than in Europe? Alperen Sengun: “Before you go to the NBA, you think, LeBron scores 50, an unknown player scores 50. You think it’s easier to score there. But when you get there, it’s not like that. I used to say the same, ‘Europe is harder, America is easier.’ But when you go there, you see it. Here, there are more set plays. There, it’s more one-on-one and fast break plays.” Source: EuroHoops.net
I don't get how Turner would be more "exciting". Like is he more athletic? Sure but then again Sengun is a better athlete in less traditional ways like quicker more coordinated feet, more balance, flexibility... More "wiggle" as the say. Like are big men lob dunks more exciting than Alpi spin cycling defenders? For me, no.
Sengun's "issues" aren't issues. They're just "make him near MVP level skills that'd be great to have. Jalen's "issues" are that he's a net negative 80% of the time. If 1 extra 3 every few games changes that, great.
I never understood the "an extra 3 every few games" argument. It is basically a clever way to dismiss the shooting problem: A 33% 3pt shooting is not that much difference from 38%. There are at least three problems with that logic. First and most obvious, he couldn't make an extra 3 every few games. If it's as easy as the argument implies, he would have done it after 3 years already. (BTW, it's exactly what Jabari has done in his second season.) Second, the extra 3 every few games would make sense if he was shooting something like 3 or 4 3pt shots a game. But instead, Jalen has been shooting more than 7 a game. The shots he misses are negative to the team. Third, the difference between a good offensive team and a mediocre offensive team is about 3 points per 100 possessions. So an extra 3pt made isn't as insignificant as they imply.
I haven't been this excited about a Rocket since Yao Ming. Pay him. I've seen enough from him. They're probably not yet because Jalen would be like wtf (even though this is a prove you deserve it year IMO).
This upcoming season will determine a lot. The Rockets probably want to give Jalen every chance to succeed because if he does the payoff would be spectacular. By the same token, they want to see if Alpi can become better and stay healthy before committing big dollars, although Alpi is almost guaranteed short of a big drop off in play.
I haven't been this excited about a Rocket since we drafted some guy from Nigeria in 1984. Pay the man NOW!
