This is a political coup. Of all candidates Kamala Harris becomes the nominee lolll. For the sake of the democratic party, they better have an open convention or Trump may have the largest electoral victory in history. This is a major issue. They should have accepted the fact Trump returns and focused all their efforts at getting either the house or senate. This election is effectively over with Harris at the top of the ticket.
The democracy part happens when we vote in the actual election. The RNC and DNC are private entities. And private entities can base their decisions on polling data rather than having a primary because it's a private organization.

Donors agreed with the democrat voting base. The donor class want to win the election. It isn't some ideological coop or something. It's literally donors deathly afraid they would lose the general election. So it's based on their perception of where the wind is blowing with voters.
The GOP donor class is basically used car salesmen, tech bros, MLM corporations and oil barons. And there is something really uncanny about so much of the GOP donor class being car dealership owners. It's so damn weird.
