Strategically it makes sense on many levels. The risk reward ratio favors his opponent massively. In addition to Trump generally being a coward.
Biden stepped down on his own terms and timeline. Yes, he was influenced by outside factors (but so was LBJ). In the end, nobody "forced" him to do anything. Actually, it would be undemocratic to force a presidential candidate (winning the primary is irrelevant)- to continue a campaign when they decide they no longer want to (again the reasons are irrelevant). You can't force anyone to do anything.
Conservatives don't want to hear this, but it's true. They need to drop the DEI/Willie Brown stuff. It's pure circlejerkery. Kamala has a likability problem. She's seen as inauthentic and really struggles when off script. Republicans can't really craft a message around that. They have to hope the Democrats can't figure out how to market her.
Majority of Democratic VOTERS supported Biden stepping down. But sure, blame the elites because you’re shaking in your wittle boots because now you have the geezer candidate.
I hesitate to critique her voice, because it's a bit sexist/unfair, but it does remind me an awful lot of Hillary. Shrill. A bit too nasal. The truth is most women have these characteristics in their voice when they raise them above a certain volume. The charisma thing is definitely true. She doesn't look like the kind of person who can handle a joke, much less tell one. She gives off the "I will say anything to get your vote" vibe stronger than most. Which, to be fair, is a vibe Trump gives off in spades.
Also quite disingenuous Republicans care about Democrat votes when they tried to invalidate 81m Democrat votes in 2020, participate in voter suppression, limiting mail-in ballots, gerrymandering, closing polling locations, reducing early voting, etc
I don't think our conservative friends realize just how freaked out they look by doompasting a bunch of cynical takes from twitter. It does not exude confidence/strength.
It makes sense. There's way less red tape to deal with letting her take over the ticket. Money, ballot access, etc. It's gonna be WILD seeing how this plays out in practice though. Team Kamala and the Democrats have to move fast if they want to quell any type of uprising.
Did recent polling of likely Democratic voters show that they wanted Biden to stay or drop out? What does the most recent data say? Worry about the old guy you plan on voting for.
I think we will have a debate between VP's as well. If the dems play this right they will be back in a strong position coming out of their convention next month. Hope they get the right people on the ticket. Our democracy depends on it.
