Joe Biden and Donald Trump will employ the same amount of decision making effort in the sense they will have nicely formulated policy positions where they chose from like 3 options.

The executive branch has always been run by its staffers and appointments by the president. The president just gets condescended distilled positions he can chose from.

Let's not pretend we vote for the individual. We vote for the ideology of the party and desire said ideology to be running the executive branch.

Real noble. Single handily destroyed the Democrat party and exposed them for the frauds they really are.

I think the problem is that Kamala is one of the few people on Earth that polls worse than a full-on dementia Joe Biden. She's incredibly unpopular, even within her own party. I think she may be the sacrificial lamb to 2024 for a regroup for 2028 with an empty Presidential seat up for grabs.

This is a critical moment for democrats.

This move will make or break the party for a good while.

If they can put up a solid candidate with clear messaging and focus their energy, this could be a game changer.

If they can't pull it together then 2024 could be such a massive Wipeout that Republicans will effectively control the entire federal government for a generation.

I called this 12 months ago. But I wasn't taking a swipe at Biden or the "managerial" class.

I was absolutely wrong, but both Biden and Trump are too old mentally to be commander and chief, baggage aside.

Trump has to come up with some new ramblings I guess. Just hope he doesn't offend any women. Tee hee.

Wut... Do you even know how the executive branch operates?

This is Boomer type talk like when some old dude says you should dress up in your suit and walk around stores and hand out resumes to get jobs.

When it comes to worrying about what type of individual is president, I worry more about the ideology of the party of the president running the executive branch is part of.

In other words I don't want the political party that calls migrant farm hands being paid under minimum wage invaders anywhere near the White House.

I agree the executive branch is bloated and largely an unelected unaccountable bureaucratic mass, but the president is also the commander in chief and many decisions are important and best made by one person accountable.

Yes, you may be correct, or maybe not. We will have to wait and see. One thing I think most people will agree with, is that Biden wasn’t physically or mentally going to be able to serve as President for four more years. It’s too bad that he waited this long to drop out. But, it is what it is.

This type of stuff happens from time to time. These "generational elections" tend to get wiped out pretty quickly each cycle. Even if Republicans dominate this cycle, its just one cycle.

This is why I think they timed this right after the RNC.

Not sure how “noble” it was of Biden.

He was taken out kicking and screaming. Money is like oxygen to a political campaign and he was being starved of it, plus all the pressure from the Democratic establishment making his reelection prospects untenable.

If Trump doesn't somehow rig things to get a third term.

Except the SCOTUS is for life. And this SCOTUS is on a mission to enact project 2025 to the T.

Eh, I think that's a little more true in conservative media circles than some others. I admit she was not at all an inspiring candidate last time she ran in a primary. But the odd element -- and I defy anyone to say that can see the future clearly on this -- is the kind of "emergency" nature of this. America, as I've said, loves underdogs, and even people who felt meh about her might generate some sympathy. We'll see. Based on some of her previous adventures, she could easily squander such sympathy.

I maintain she should go fully back to brutalist senator Harris. I think that's the real her, based on watching her in California, versus the fake, nasally, smarmy auntie figure.

The difference this time is that Republicans have basically made it their party platform to dismantle free and fair elections forevermore if they are put into power.

You're alluding to a "coup," the only coup attempt was on Jan 6th.

Allowing someone to voluntarily step down is what democratic countries do.

Vivek exactly called the dems would slide in a new candidate and benefit from the honeymoon period of their candidacy to win the election. Also, if you aren't donating millions to super PACs you are not part of the class he referenced.

Agreed. He didn't step aside because he wanted to. He stepped aside because he was basically forced to.
