Common denominator is the agent. If he turns out to be a bench player, that's a win. We're talking a bout 3 picks from the end. If he had gone undrafted and signed with the Lakers, what's the difference? Shaq oldest son against his advice went pro. He went undrafted then signed with the Lakers.

Pelinka was Kobe agent and a member of the fab 5

I didn't know that Pelinka was part of the fab5. I watched the documentary of the fab 5 like 15 years ago, it was amazing

Exactly that's the nepotism. It's not limited to just family. They only hired him to appease Kobe. He had 0 front office experience prior and went straight to GM.

Too much hate for the 55th pick in the weakest draft in years. Bronny was expected to suck now but saying he will never be an NBA player is kinda dumb tbh.

Nepotism exists everywhere. Its real life, connections and influence give you a leg up everywhere. Why did Les Alexander hire Daryl Morey when the dude wasnt even an assistant GM? It's because he was part of the Celtics and Danny Ainge organization.

Pelinka actually has done a decent job as GM, Lakers won a ring in his tenure and thats something Presti or Morey can't say. The WB trade and letting Caruso go really ****ed the Lakers up though. If they went with Derozan and Caruso over WB they would have had another ring by now.

    The Fab Five was

    Webber
    Howard
    Rose
    Jimmy King
    Ray Jackson

Pelinka was recruited the year before and redshirted the "Fab Five" season

I meant he was on the squad. He came in with my homeboy Rich McIver from Brazosport

Nice. He didn't redshirt that year like Pelinka did.

I remember McIver as a solid bench guy with UT after he transferred back home (now that I looked it up to confirm: his 1st year in Austin was my 1st year in Austin...me and the crew went to a lot of games)

eta: here's a guy I can't remember at all from those 2 years

Who the hell was Roderick Anderson?

    Penders-Ball was fun as hell.

I think its his Dad's fault. How many 55th draft picks get a 4yr/$7.9M deal to start? With much is GIVEN, much is EXPECTED

We're close enough in age so remember. Michigan won the title in 89, he graduated in 90 with me. In fact, my other homeboy, Tremaine Wingfiled went to Louisville. He's from Brazoswood. Rich played sparingly as a fresh, then the fab 5 came in. He didn't play at all and transferred to UT as did Tremaine. I was at SWT hooping. When we used to talk, I didn't think either were good enough to go to those schools, but I get it. I used to come to UT and hoop with them in Gregory. Blast from the past

We most likely crossed paths at Gregory. I might have even scored on you. :)

Maxwell Lewis got the same amount. Is he Lebron's illegimitate son? How much you expect from Maxwell Lewis?

    https://www.spotrac.com/nba/player/_/id/82318/maxwell-lewis#:~:text=2023-2026 Rookie,dead cap value of $1,891,857.

Chandler Parsons signe a very similar deal (2 yr deal, 1 yr team option) way back when durng Morey era. If you adjust for inflation an add 1 more year it's the same deal Bronny got today.
    https://www.spotrac.com/nba/player/_/id/8090/chandler-parsons#:~:text=2011-2013 Rookie,average annual salary of $832,965.

People talk **** about bronny without knowing anything SMH.

Funny nobody was saying "it's summer league" when Bronny sucked ass but now he is playing decently LOL

This kid won't be a star but given how raw he is before he is proving to be at least worth a roster slot on an NBA team. Have you seen our own AJ Griffn play? That dude's on his 3rd year still playin like ass but everyone still picking on the 55th rookie LMAO.
