playing in israel is definitely a weird choice. at least go somewhere nice like Spain... imagine they threw the bag though.
At this stage of his career, I doubt he can pick where he wants to play. Somebody has to give him an offer.
I doubt McVeigh will play SL at all. He is going to the Olympics next week, and I highly doubt he is allowed to turn out for a game in Vegas... Tune in to watch him scrape together some minutes off the bench for Australia at the Olympics, or wait for preseasonand see if he sticks. (There isn't a lot to be excited about.)
Brogdon is too good to not get minutes. Someone like Holiday or Beverley can easily be benched in favor of rookies if the rookies are good enough and I absolutely trust that Ime will do that. But it's still good to have ta guy there in case of a FVV injury or if the young dudes aren't quite ready to run point yet. I think you're looking at this wrong, I think getting someone who won't necessarily demand minutes was the plan. I imagine they were upfront about this with Beverley hence why he didn't sign, and why they had to give Holiday a second year and a little extra money
Holiday earned that extra year / and $$$. He and FVV were the two best shooters on the team last year shooting .387 from distance and played in 78 games. IF they wanted to keep him, they were gonna have to pay and they used the BAE to do so. Money well spent as he has real value around the league.
Wow! The Mavericks are making all the right moves. Not only did they get better with Klay Thompson but now they are looking to trade for Julius Randle. Goes to show why they continuously go deep into the playoffs and we don't. Meanwhile, in Houston we want to look pretty when we lose with all the flashy scoring center play contributing to a measly top 10 defense and brand spanking new turnover prone want to be PGs. We ain't winning jack in 5-10 years. You guys are delusional.
As a Rocket fan I'm glad the direction the Mavs are taking. They don't have a young core around Luka. Just hired mercenary vets. That is not a recipe for a dynasty or long term sustained success even. Luka will have major aspects of the Mavs roster change every season. Difficult to create chemistry without a core group of guys.
i was hoping the spurs would also do something stupid, but it appears they're thinking long term, which sucks
I don't know. They're geared up to win 35 games right now. They're going to miss out on a top pick. I know they want to prioritize development but I think they needed to get one more pick in the bag. OTOH I bet a lot of FA's are going to want to join Wemby. His rim protection is elite, can shoot, they don't play a lot of iso. Maybe they won't need more picks. I think we're well suited to challenge the Spurs. He struggles to defend Sengun and we have way more talent than them. Our staff and their staff know each other very well. The future is interesting in Texas.
Honestly now Im thinking about Luke Kennard and Reed Sheppard. Having seen RS at work whats the chance he is gonna be better than Luke Kennard over his career?
Spurs arent the issue its OKC.Wemby is overrated, he is dominant defensively but offensively he got shut down by Brooks. Maybe if Spurs luck into a superstar in 2025 I'd be worried, but till then whatever our core is better. OKC oth already have a big 3, good supporting cast, mvp candidate and a ton of picks. Its hard to see them not being a dynasty with multiple rings.
Jabari is the secret weapon against the Spurs and OKC. He does an excellent job of guarding Wemby and Chet. On the offensive end Wemby tries to guard Sengun and fails. I think the Spurs messed up with the 8th pick. They should have gotten a beefy center to play against Sengun and leave Wemby to guard PF’s. I think Dillingham has a bright future as well. I just can’t figure out what they were thinking.
I think OKC has TWO dudes that can be MVP candidates going forward - Shai & Chet. They will be tough to get past.
we just need the Wemby to be so good that the Spurs miss out on a great draft pick next year in a loaded class. But they might "load manage" him all season.
Everyone seems to be assuming that Chet will continue to take the giant development steps from good to great but most guys don't actually make. Because it is almost harder to get from good to great then from average to good. Also while SGA is definitely an MVP level player, he also still has flaws in his game, and he is already in his prime ages so it is not clear if he be able to grow past those. I do not know if he can lead a team to a title like a Giannis or Jokic. I think he will need Chet or J Dub to become All NBA 1st team level to help him out. All 4 divisonal teams will be tough competition for Rockets, and each create different challenges. The Rockets glut of young talent hopefully allows them to be versatile facing each of those match ups. But they still need one at least 1 of their guys to grow into a MVP level player (S tier) or at least 2 guys to be All NBA 1st team/DPOY guys (A tier) to have a chance of a title whether they that kind of versatility surrounding them or not.
