We can agree to disagree, some would have said the same for Marion as well who developed over time. Rookie and sophomore players typically get better and may or may not develop over time. Here are Eason's stats as a Starter playing against starters in his rookie year. His impact stats, shooting, and numbers increased against starters, and as his minutes increased with more opportunities. He was injured last year so he only had one game of high minutes and no real sample, but in the 20 games, his numbers again increased in a new system, with new players and coach. On off, this year, removed guys like Boban, etc. with less than 200 minutes. Last year He has a very high impact regardless of starter or bench role on the team and gets better with more opportunities for minutes in only two years of experience. He'll get better with time imo.
Tari is the 3rd best player on this team behind Fred and Sengun. I have no doubt he will add an extra 5-10 wins next season when he's healthy. He's literally the only 20+ minute player in the top 50 in overall net rating that didn't make the playoffs or play-in... https://www.nba.com/stats/players/advanced?CF=MIN*GE*21:GP*GE*20&DateFrom=&LastNGames=0&SeasonType=Regular Season&dir=-1&sort=NET_RATING
steals + offensive rebounds + offensive fouls drawn defensively - offensive turnovers - offensive rebounds given up is the greatest single calculation in a vacuum to determine if a player is a plus player offensive rebounds given up is a tracked metric that nobody talks about but the best analyzers use it blocks not as important as these because not all blocks are recovered like a turnover the above formula is basic shot point differential it measure the difference between how many extra shots a player gives his team and takes away from the opponent versus how many shots he takes away from his team and gives the opponents the majority of games are won by the team that has the greatest number of fga + 0.44fta for a team to be a consistent playoff team without being in the top half of fga + 0.44fta differential means that they are significantly outshooting their opponents that is a rare occurrence high steal rate indicate a player is tracking the ball well and cheating the passing lanes because he knows where ball is going he is essentially cheating defensively by using his iq blocks especially perimeter blocks indicate a players ability to anticipate a shot from the opponent and recover or close out on his defensive assignment when a player has both high steal rate and high block rate it indicates his combined ability to both cheat and recover it indicates a player with high iq and a quick iq a fast game processor if you will tari amen and jabari have all been very good at the above to start their careers actually outstanding cam also on the plus side in this calculation reed showed this same potential at kentucky plus he had historical shooting percentages jg net differential number is as bad as tari number is good
Love love love Eason but the guy has to stay on the court this year. Too many injuries already in such a young nba career. If he can stay healthy man the sky is the limit. I look forward to him giving Brooks a run for his money to keep his starting spot.
That calculation at the top seems.like a calculation that will always benefit role players who are not high usage offensive players. You don't see this in your formula? Offensive rebounds.... Someone in the dunker spot is more likely to get that than some high usage guard. Offensive fouls drawn.... How many high usage offensive players do you know have a high amount of charges drawn. its a stat dominated by role players. Offensive turnovers - a role player will have less turnovers than a high usage offensive player. Offensive rebounds given up - how often are high usage offensive guards responsible for boxing out and preventing offensive rebounds? No that isn't a good metric of a plus player. It's simplistic arithmetic of basic counting stars that are dominated by role players. How this is an evaluating of anything is beyond me.
Yep, it's all about staying on the court for Tari. He and Amen both have that exceptional feel and nose for the ball. They may actually be in competition for minutes. It's definitely a luxury to have two guys like that.
I mean he played all 82 games his rookie season, and was pretty healthy in college as well. Hopefully the leg thing last season was just a one-time occurrence and he'll be good to go from now on.
I'd add Jabari in there. Lots of options in that offense, lots of IQ and not an incapable defender among them.
