Do you think AJ Griffin is good at basketball?

  1. No. There is a reason the god awful Hawks didn't want him.

I mean, were you impressed by what you saw?

Not to mention the Hawks have a much better prospect now in Rissacher.

Ultimately who cares, the cost to acquire him was low, but he sure didn't look like any better than the rest of the G league level guys based on the admittedly limited sample size.

I'll be happy if he doesn't play a single minute throughout the season.

I wanted to believe. Maybe he will show better when actual practice starts. His IQ is pretty low though.

    imoressed? No. Depressed? No.

regardless, where will he get his minutes? Perhaps better phrased, which zip code?

final question, if $ is needed to balance and close a big deal, AJ or a #2?

I don't like Griffin but due diligence affords to give him half a year.

No, he isn’t. Bullock has had a good NBA career, he’s been a starter 6 years in 4 different teams. Very few 2nd round players achieve such success in their career, and Griffin has cost us only a 44th pick. Bullock is a nice ceiling for Griffin

He needs to lean into the 3&D role if he wants to stick cause he's just not dynamic enough with the ball to justify anything other than being a spot-up shooter at the moment. On the bright side though he can shoot and that's always valuable.

He is not a feature guy, but his game is suited for being the featured player - I just don't think he is good as a role player and not good enough to be a star.

His father was kind of a garbage player, but also so much more....he has some of the same attributes, but the game is different and he doesn't seem to fit with his old style play....

I remember his father when he payed for the Mavs. He has way more wiggle to his game than his dad

He's a spot up shooting guard that thinks he's a wing. Could be a Derrick White if he focused on defense a bit more. Tries to put it on the floor and has no idea what he's going to do when he actually does.

He often has a better shot when he catches the ball than what he gets after he puts it on the floor. Just needs to shoot and punish aggressive closeouts. I've found his game to be a mess and it's mostly mental. He's desperate to put the ball on the floor for some reason.

Defensively he actually has the athleticism and tools to be an elite wing defender if he wants. Especially under Udoka who played the same position.

I don't know if he really understands what's going on in winning basketball. The players do what the team needs. The team is not a collage of whatever the players want to do.

He won't last long in the NBA (or any team job) until he understands this. It's not that complicated. I hope he figures it out, this dude could be a really great 3&D player. Could be worth $30m per year if he's coachable and hard working.

He is a low risk medium reward player. It is actually a bit better if he sucks because then we can lock him up for cheap in the offseason. If he had played really then its gonna be another struggle money wise alongside JG in terms of both playing time and keeping him long term.

He can polish his game in GLeague until we need him due to injuries or whatnot.

Wasn’t impressed with what I saw in SL. However I feel better with him at the end of the bench than I do Jeenathan or Samuels. I think he’s an actual NBA end of the bench reserve talent while the 2-way talent we had last year has no business being in the nba.

But yeah there’s a reason why Atlanta was willing to give him up for a 2nd round pick. I don’t see a ton of upside here. But you could have worse at the end of your bench that’s for sure.

You can tell a players IQ is low, after 4 SL games, playing with a new organization and new players?

It seemed to me he was trying to adjust. Nothing good, nothing too bad.

Yes, because this is his 3rd season in the NBA.

You're only as good as the players who are around you. And even with the best players, there's an adjustment period
