The Rockets curse is real whoever plays for the Rox starts losing their shot.

Even RS can't break the curse went from 4/6 in his first game to 0/5 his last.

The best part of this game, was it being the highlight of Nix's career.

And how Nix knew that and was all in on it.

our last reliable shooter to wear #15 was mitchell wiggins on his comeback stint. that’s the only thing that gives me any hope of breaking this curse :(

I have figured Reed out right now he can only be an open shot shooter.

I always figured the hype was way outta line, dude is 6'1.75 with trex arms he's not Steph Curry he can't break down defenses and he def isn't FVV, he'll get hunted and targeted on defense.

But I think he is an off the ball sharpshooter and has sky high bball IQ. He's gonna be a good secondary/supportive player. A bit of a reach at 3 but looking at all the other players in that range pretty good outcome tbh. None of the other guys in the top 5 have really cone out and dominated and RS has the best performance out of all of them so far.

You realize there is 5 months of no ball and 5 months nonstop 8 games a day basketball.

Gotta watch something. But I don't talk much about the viewing experience.

My biggest fear, is what I thought was Reed playing slow and in control, was Reed showing he doesn't have NBA athleticism.

Yep, that is why never liked hype.

50 pct from 3 in College never fazed me, has to bring it as a pro.

His potential leadership was not advertised.

along with improved handles he’ll have to get stronger to bump off defenders and still have legs/arms to launch 3’s. maybe holiday plays backup most if not all the season… yuck

NINE turnovers! Sheeesh. I think that should show everyone that he's not ready for a full time lead guard role just yet. He may be able to pull it off in spurts, but he will need much more practice there to overcome his athletic limitations vs the all world athletes that will be assigned to stop him. Im not too concerned because he was not drafted to be a point, its just a cherry on top that he appears to be able to moonlight there when necessary. Im more disappointed in the 0/5 3pt shooting. He was sold to the world as the next Curry - a GENERATIONAL 3pt shooter. What will be his role on nights where his shot is not going down? The ability to get by a summer league defense to create 2pt jump shots is going to be greatly nullified when playing against actual NBA players. If Daishen Nix was giving him fits how will he respond to guys like Jrue, Caruso, Suggs, Smart, Derrick White etc...?

All in all this summer league was great practice for Sheppard. He showed himself to be competent and blessed with foundational strengths that should help him be a very good NBA pro. Getting waxed in practice by guys like FVV, Amen and Jalen will only help him get even better. This might be his best landing spot in terms of being hidden, with not too many expectations and a peripheral accumulation of talent that should highlight his strengths. Cant wait for October!

Nate looked awful. He had so many aimless drives into traffic. Guy's trying to get that contract, but I'm afraid he didn't help himself. It's been ugly basketball all around though. But that's typically the case in SL. We don't have a stacked squad like last year.

I don't know what went wrong but it needs to be fixed. 9 TOs??!! WT actual F?! So that 20pts now looks like anywhere from 2 - 11pts. Now we see why the Rockets resigned Holiday because they (and i) knew that Reed was not going to be ready to run point anytime soon.
The only positive is he is still young and learning a new system. Once he gets settled he will be okay.

Daishen Nix has been playing hella defense all throughout SL. This game was just one of many great defensive outings for him. Nothing special on his part. His defense is a big reason why they have a 3-1 SL record and will probably make the SL finals. That kind of defense always translates to the league so look for him to be playing good minutes during the season.

Reed and Cam are the only guys from the summer league roster that have any business being on any NBA roster.

Daishen Nix sucks but he's in his 4th season and experienced. He has a big body to out muscle and push Reed off his spot to make him uncomfortable.
