The text (of both combined) seems pretty clear to me. Again, textually (which, you know, doesn't mean much anymore as textualists are no longer a thing).

If Biden publicly steps down, will he remember doing it when he wakes up the next day?

Got to luv the anti wokesters, "libertarian" elitists Chrisrian Nationalists, etc who make up the GOP who want Biden to withdraw. This is stupid on their support as Biden is the only Dem who could possibly lose to crazy old Trump.

I don’t know what’s going on here with the MAGa trolls but poll after poll has shown that republicans are the only group that wants Biden to stay in the race.

Meaning they see Biden as weak and want him to stay in so Trump can win.

So I’m guessing trolls like OsTrig don’t really want Biden to drop out since he spews right wing propaganda like you and I breathe.

    ….

Question for you though, I’m interested in your thoughts since both Bernie and AOC have openly been pretty supportive of Biden staying in the race. As a staunch progressive how would you prefer seeing this play out?

Rep. Greg Landsman (D-Ohio) is now calling for President Biden to leave the Democratic ticket.

“There is too much on the line, and we have to be able to make that case to the American people about the change we need and the country we all deserve,” he said in a series of posts on X. “After weeks of consideration and hundreds of conversations with constituents, I have come to the conclusion that Joe Biden is no longer the best person to make that case.”

Sure boss. How’s Jonathan Turley doing nowadays?

You are a joke. A very unfunny one at that who thinks he’s hilarious… which is the worst kind of joke.

don't know about Turley but the Federalist has an interesting piece today:

Donald Trump Enters Fall Election With The Big Tent Republicans Failed To Build For Decades
Trump has made inroads with minority voters without alienating the party’s white base because the former president’s activism is genuine.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren calls on Biden to step aside
    By Nicole Markus

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) released a statement Friday calling on President Biden to step aside, citing her belief that he cannot win against former president Donald Trump.

“Simply put, your candidacy is on a trajectory to lose the White House and potentially impact crucial House and Senate races down ballot,” wrote Lofgren, a close ally of former House speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif).

Lofgren is among eight Democratic lawmakers who so far Friday have called on Biden to quit the ticket. Lofgren said that if Biden does remain in the race, she will support him and work to ensure his candidacy is a success.

“Unfortunately, I greatly doubt that the outcome will be positive and our country will pay a dreadful price for that,” she wrote.

Former Democratic foreign policy officials urge Biden to leave the race
    By Mariana Alfaro
Reporter on the breaking political news team

A group of 56 former Democratic foreign policy officials in an open letter Friday called on President Biden to drop out of the presidential race, saying that “the growing likelihood of an electoral college victory for Donald Trump puts your national security accomplishments — and our country and your legacy — at an unacceptable level of risk.”

The signees — which include former ambassadors, former members of the diplomatic corps and former national security officials — said Trump’s “vision, approach, and expressed intentions concerning our nation’s security are in fundamental conflict with the values and principles for which you have stood.”

The former diplomats also said they are “keenly aware of the comments you made in March 2020, in which you indicated that you viewed yourself as ‘a bridge’ to ‘an entire generation of leaders’ who represent the country’s future.”

“We strongly believe that now is the time to pass the mantle of leadership, and we respectfully urge you to do so,” they wrote.

Those who signed the letter include former national security adviser Anthony Lake, former USAID administrator J. Brian Atwood, and former national coordinator for security and counterterrorism Richard A. Clark. Many of the signees have previously worked with Biden, who is known for his expertise in foreign policy.
