I am paying attention to Sarr for the first time tonight and he looks way worse than he did in those highlights vs Atlanta

Getting cranked by Drew Timme currently - but basically he is not even jumping/contesting shots underneath, like at least try for the block.

That's why you got drafted - show some energy man

Edit: he just gave up a go-ahead layup underneath to Rockets Legend Mason Jones. Jeez.

He will be out of the league before his first contract is up at this rate. He is looking like a historical bust. I am really glad we did not "Just move up to get Sarr?".

Nonsense, you can't judge young players until their 7th season....or so I've been told.

Hartenstein has been a scrub all his life suddenly got fought over by NYC and OKC and got paid 87M. For some players it does take that long.

If No. 2 Sarr can play like this nobody can crap all over 55th pick Bronny. At least that kid tries on the court lol.

No, he's always been pretty good, the Rockets were just really stupid to cut him after not really giving him a chance to play. The Knicks gave him that opportunity, and now he's getting paid. If you look at his per 36, he's not doing anything he wasn't always doing....he just never got the chance to show it.

That's typically the story when it comes to "late bloomers", they often weren't given opportunity early on and they jump on it when they are finally given that opportunity

That's not often the case for the players who are given the keys to a franchise from day 1 and given heavy minutes and allowed to do whatever they wanted for several years.

So besides the Rockets were the Nuggets, Clippers and Cavs stupid too?

Regardless what you say it did take some players like Hartenstein more than 7 yrs to glow up.

Looks that Sarr is more of a project than Risacher and Atlanta chose the lesser evil.

The Nuggets and Cavs didn't need him because he was buried on the depth chart and yes the Clippers are stupid.

Even Nepo Baby Bronny has managed to do something the last 2 games he played. He still sucks but Sarr is at elite levels of suckiness.

How can you be 7'1" in shoes with a 7'4" wingspan and a 37 inch vert and go 1-for-21 from the field in any stretch of your career

Look, I'm always preaching things like, don't read too much into small sample sizes, don't read too much into Summer League success because the level of competition is very mixed. But I absolutely think you can be concerned by Summer League failure when it's this bad. If this were the regular season his FG% would already be in the hole and it would take him quite awhile to dig out.

This dude is starting to read like a bust. Not completely writing him off after just a few bad summer league games, but it does so far look like we dodged a Bullet here. (See what I did there?)

How many people salivated at the chance to take guys like Sarr and Scoot Henderson over Sheppard and Sengun? Why do we continue to act like these people know anything about evaluating basketball?

It's as if your naecassim doesn't allow you to reflect on any misses on predictions you've made of players.

Scoot Henderson just finished his rookie year in a role Sheppard won't be in when he enters the league. We have no clue who will be between between Scoot and Sheppard and your certainty on his matter says a lot about your actual basketball acumen and things like roles, stages of development, level of competition etc. we will not know how 20 year old Sheppard would do being the primary creator of a offense against NBA team defense. We know how it looks with Scoot and it was disappointing with some hope towards the end of the season but that is something Sheppard won't be tested to do with the Rockets. To compare them is absurd. I'm sure Scoot Henderson could rack up 20 pts and 9 turnovers against summer league rosters also.

Would anyone have thought that Reed Sheppard would score more on dunks than Sarr in summer league?

The reason you don’t know who will be the better pro between Scoot Henderson and Reed Sheppard is the same reason you haven’t gotten off of Jalen Green’s dk for three years. No one is surprised that’s the case because you just don’t know ball.

From what I saw last night he was afraid to shoot, he does have a nice looking 15 foot face up jumper ( iirc he hit 1 v. Houston)

He was a pretty willing passer/hand-off guy, he did have the game winning pass out assist last night after recovering a block/rebound

But the real problem was defense, he had no interior presence or even activity level. He did get switched onto Rockets legend Mason Jones who dribbled it off his knee on the last possession. But, no real rim protection presence that I saw.

He's just a really big fan of highly athletic, low BBIQ players who can't shoot a basketball.

Being a 7-footer who isn't willing to be active in the paint just nullifies so many of the advantages of your height, and when his height was one of the main reasons he was drafted highly, it's a pretty bad look.

Maybe his jump shot will develop into a real weapon, but yeah, the lack of motor and interior presence are deeply concerning either way.
