Respectfully Agree to disagree. I was in college campus dining for 10 years. Today's youth, in my experience, is more interested in E sports, discord, DEI meetings, and anything that involves a cell phone. My last college celebrated coming out day on 9-11. Which I have no problem with except this particular day You know what they did not acknowledge. the day, and those who died. I'm not sorry that I have a problem with this.
You are missing the whole point of the college experience. You are projecting the behaviors of a small group of people on the entire college population. How patriotic to you think trump is? Does it make you warm and fuzzy to see him hugging the flags? What about his statement that he thinks soldiers are cowards and losers? What about his comments about not liking John McCain because he prefers soldiers that were not captured? How patriotic was it of him to come up with the big lie that the election was stolen? I could go on and on with countless examples trump has spouted out over the years but people such as yourself are willing to stomach and still go to the voting booth and vote for him. Today's youth are tomorrow's future. They have a lot more to lose than you and I do. I share your annoyance of DEI, gay, and transgender issues but I will be casting my vote in this year's election along beside them to stop populism and fascism from becoming the law of the land. We are perilously close to losing our democracy.. True freedom and whatever side issues come along with it is far superior to a government that gives one person absolute power. Most thinking people and educated people agree with this. They realize the dangers and limitations that a government based on white christian nationalism brings with it.
All good man. We just have different points of view. 10 years on a small college campus gives me lots of insight. I saw every catering request on campus and who to bill it to. I oversaw 5 retail locations in addition to main dining. I did lots of paperwork in different dining venues, and I heard the conversations. It's so much worse that you know. Except for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where i was for 3 years. Those kids got lunch, ate lunch, opened the computers and worked on projects. You could hear a pin drop in the dining hall. But then again RPI is mostly folks from other countries that know education is the way to better things.
