So is this where Mark Hamill from Star Wars is now? Getting trolled by an actual medical professional on a topic regarding medical information ? The left is NOT exactly having a good summer at the moment @tinman @Salvy @AroundTheWorld
Doubtful but hard to determine for sure. J6: thousands of people looking to murder the sitting VP and possibly the sitting Speaker of the House as well. We know exactly where they got their disinformation and what their political motivation was. Attempt on the ex-P.: apparently one person with unknown political motivation. Conclusion: The one person is the recent attempt of the ex-P is now dead. The person responsible for the disinformation that lead to J6 is still active, still pushing the same disinformation, and honoring those that were there to do the killing on J6.
The "looking to murder" bit is quite speculative. No one took any direct action against either the VP or the Speaker and the "gallows" that were constructed to (as the alarmists are wont to say) hang Mike Pence were quite far away, on the other side of a major obstacle (a pool or water feature), not conforming to the structure/design of any real gallows used to hang people, and labeled "This is art". Other than that, the only evidence was a chant of "Hang Mike Pence". The chant is bad, but we didn't charge thousands of people for chanting, "Pigs in a blanket, fry 'em like bacon." or "What do we want? Dead cops. When do we want 'em? Now." Those are generally considered to be protected political statements. I would say J6 is more accurately described a riot that involved some individuals clashing with law enforcement officers, not dissimilar to BLM riots.
Tell that to the Congressmen who were scurrying around and hiding like rats inside the Capitol Building. They were just playing hide-n-seek with the rioters plumbers armed with duct tape and twist ties. What could've happened this weekend could've been much worse. What could've happened J6 could've been much worse.
You mean the guy that found a pile of zip ties that the Capitol Police left lying around and picked them up (as was verified by the body worn camera that "Zip Tie Guy" had? The guy who spent 12 minutes in the Capitol building, never touched anyone associated with the government, told people not to vandalize government property, and was then sentenced to 57 months in prison? You think that guy is a good argument that they are radically different than the people who burned down police precincts?
Trump told the rednecks to storm the Capital. Biden didn't tell this kid to shoot Trump. It's not a valid comparison.
Phrasing is awesome. His sentencing seems cut and dried to me given that he was in an "uncontrollable riot". Influencing the lawmakers state of mind is exactly what Trump wanted to accomplish. https://www.newschannel5.com/news/f...ong-nashvilles-zip-tie-guy-to-serve-for-jan-6 If what you're looking for is the premise that the BLM rioters got off easy, then I'll agree to that. Hell...lock up any "peaceful protestor" dressed up in tactical gear with tasers and other weapons on the "off chance" a political really devolves into a riot said cosplayer actively participates in.
Lefties in here are stroking out left and right. Everything they tried to do to Trump had backfired badly, and now he has reached legendary status around the globe So damn true. Lol
I would say that his sentence is a bit harsh. I have had gang members that committed actual acts of violence get 30% of that sentence. To have that guy sentenced to 57 months when the Vice President is donating funds to bail out BLM rioters shows an outrageous bias in federal criminal justice system. You listed a lot of things, but they amount to he walked into a building wearing a "tactical vest" (a perfectly legal item of clothing available on Amazon for less than 30 bucks) and a taser (also perfectly legal and available on Amazon), picked up some zip ties that were left about by the government, and walked into a room in that building. Dude should have gotten a misdemeanor trespassing for time served.
I don't know. My interest in the legal and sentencing system is circumstantial. The Fed is notorious for pursuing heavier sentences to make an example out of the person. In this case, even if it was a generously termed riot, the cause and reason of the riot was to rattle and intimidate lawmakers and the vice president to their point of view. Just looking at post-riot reactions from people like Hawley, Cruz, and McConnell, that message was clearly and "cleanly" delivered. When people support being Tough on Crime, there's an expectation for harsher penalties as a deterrent. If that's the case, I don't mind harsher examples to prevent another J6 where a group of activists wanted to change how my vote is counted.
The gallows isn't what I was referring to. They were chanting they were going to hang Mike Pence. According to the sworn affidavit, they were intent on killing Pelosi and Pence. Proud Boys Intended To Kill Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi, FBI Witness Says An FBI witness says that members of the far-right Proud Boys had hoped to assassinate Vice President Mike Pence and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi during last week's violent storming of the U.S. Capitol. "[The witness] stated that other members of the group talked about things that they had done during the day, and they said that anyone they got their hands on they would have killed, including Nancy Pelosi," the affidavit, which was filed Wednesday, reads. "[The witness] further stated that members of this group, which included 'Spaz,' said that they would have killed [Vice President] Mike Pence if given the chance." https://www.newsweek.com/proud-boys-intended-kill-mike-pence-nancy-pelosi-fbi-witness-says-1562062 Armed US Capitol rioter tells investigators if he had found Pelosi, 'you'd be here for another reason' https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/22/politics/loaded-firearm-january-6-charged-mark-mazza/index.html January 6 rioter who said she looked for Pelosi 'to shoot her in the friggin' brain' pleads guilty to misdemeanor for illegally protesting https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/28/politics/rioter-pleads-guilty-pelosi/index.html Man arrested after allegedly texting about "putting a bullet" in Nancy Pelosi https://www.cbsnews.com/news/man-allegedly-considering-trying-to-kill-nancy-pelosi-arrested-in-dc/ WATCH: Video shows Capitol ‘mob calling for the death of the vice president,’ https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politi...the-death-of-the-vice-president-plaskett-says @basso and perhaps @Os Trigonum may have been unaware of this information. We don't know for sure which is what I said in my original post. That is because the group was thankfully prevented from coming into contact with the VP and the speaker of the house thanks to the work of law and enforcement and security at the capitol. But there are these many statements about people intending to kill both Pence and Pelosi. They were made by the insurrectionists. So you can say that not a single one of the several people that claimed they were going to do it, may not have, but to act like it's delusional or unfounded belies the actual evidence we have to the contrary.
