Just a s*** show of a tournament. COMNEBOL caused every bit of this as they had full autonomy. From the field conditions to the security in Miami last night, it was all up to them. I'm confident the World Cup will look nothing like this. No way FIFA just allows statdiums to throw some rolls of grass over turf. Whomever's idea that was should be fired immediately. There's no way to have a stable field over turf.

    Agreed

All of this stuff was extremely predictable - the brutal heat due to climate change in all the locations, the generally shambolic nature of Miami- Dade as your final venue in that miserable, traffic choked dump now known as Hard Rock, the skimping on security.

But, they still went and ****ed it up anyway because all the Soccer Fed organizers care about is lining their own pockets.

I think your faith in FIFA to do a better to job is misplaced - they turn the corruption and avarice up to 11. See eg the last 2 world cups

The fact that the WC Final is set for the Meadowlands (another miserable ass venue) with no public transit (which makes getting into and out of the stadium many times harder)in mid July (temps hit 90s-100s) is already a big warning sign.

I don't disagree when it comes to FIFA corruption. That should've been our WC in 2022. But you just don't see the same problems at World Cups. I think the nature of the tournament is different than the Copa. This was a group of s***ty people who bumrushed the VIP entrance. I've never been to Hard Rock so I can't speak to the area or the stadium itself. I've heard and read reports that there was actually ample security...but they executed it all wrong. There should've been a perimeter set up around the stadium in which only ticketed fans could get into the lots.

The US hosted what is still considered the most successful World Cup in 1994...both from a playing perspective and a financial one. I'm confident we can do it again and better.
