Round 14, Pick 433: Ryan Mathiesen, RHP, The Master's University The Master's University is an NAIA school in Santa Clarita, north of LA. Up until 2016, it was known as The Master's College. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Master's_University Hit .403 with 12 homers and 43 RBI as a corner infielder, had 8 saves and a 4.21 ERA as a pitcher.
Round 17, Pick 523: Ethan Wagner, OF, P27 Baseball Academy (Lexington, South Carolina) First high schooler of the class. Originally from Illinois and committed to Tennessee (flipped from South Carolina). His brother, Logan, also went to P27 and was drafted by the Dodgers in the 6th round in 2022.
His brother got $600k from the Dodgers. Ethan is not as highly thought of as Logan was so if he wants to go pro he should be signable.
But that is also part of why he was available in the 3rd round. It would be a massive risk though for a guy to wait given he would miss the college season next year.
Round 19, Pick 583: Twine Palmer, RHP, Connors State College He was listed at 6-3, 165 as a senior last year, per his Perfect Game page. He's now 6-5, 200 in his first year of college.
The final member of the Houston Astros draft class of 2024 is... Round 20, Pick 613: Ky McGary, OF, Sandra Day O'Connor High School (Phoenix) McGary is committed to Arizona State. He's the top high school outfielder in Arizona according to Perfect Game. Draft Pick Tracker thread coming up, but I won't be updating much to start off since I'll be on vacation this weekend.
