LMAO, poor Clutch. None of us get em all right. At the very least, he's a visionary sports community builder. Who else could have kept this place going and true for almost 30 years?

As far as judging the talent, he's still 100x Iko.

Love Dave and am very grateful for this environment he created for us. For over 20 years I've spent more time on this board than I care to admit. It's why I donate to the site every single year. That said, I don't think OP was too hard on him. I think he was poking a little fun, but Clutch has a great sense of humor. I can't imagine that would bother him.

Stone has said that they were only focused on Sheppard and if he was not available at 3 they would have traded the pick. This was an one man draft from the start, people(esp atl and Washington) were just too afraid to believe their lying eyes and admit it.

“Archetype” is why people doubted Sengun and also why Sheppard was not the unanimously consensus #1 pick like he should have been. People don’t learn.

Stone said Reed was their #1 projected player and no one else was close. Stone flatly said they would have traded down or completely out of the draft if Reed was gone. There is no reason to think they would have taken Sarr unless it was for a trade after what Stone clearly stated.

Still, we got a shooter at PG position where our only star and supposed best shooter also plays. Both undersized also...

Anyway, i agree with the choice, I also belive Shephard is the best option and potentially the only player that would make us keep the pick instead of trading down.

But it is also a valid alternative of having a 7'2 defender to counter these surging 7 foot freaks. Specially when Sengun is still a question mark on defense and Adams and Landale are just role players.

We could have gone any way, all the top picks were redundant and not a consensus talent wise.

Anyway, it is a joke thread but to me, making bald jokes at Dave is smarter than this particular one.

Instead of poking fun at Clutch about Clingan, who was never in consideration for our pick to begin with, I think we should instead be incredibly thankful to Atlanta and Washington for falling into the age old trap of measurables and “potential” and missing on skill and elite production.

In the last hour before the draft it was reported that Atlanta was considering Sheppard with the number 1 pick. Everyone’s reaction was confusion and if it was some smokescreen to get Houston to trade up. The reality was Sheppard was and is far and away the best prospect in the draft, Atlanta knew this, but could not pull the trigger because of biases of their eyes, or maybe their owner who is heavily involved.

And then with Washington, the classic, age old story of drafting a physical specimen who doesn’t even know how to play basketball in hopes of hitting on potential. Thabeet, Wiseman, Stromile, when will people learn?

We had to dodge two bullets for a 1A player to fall in our laps, that’s the real story, Clingan was always just a smokescreen not worth even talking about anymore. Ime is hugging his new franchise player after the game because he knows exactly what we got. I am thanking our lucky stars for our good fortune and the incompetence of the two teams drafting before us.

    I'm sure Dave doesn't mind the jokes . . . .. or he doesn't seem to

There's no one here, that's been a fan for some time, that's never been wrong on a player in the draft. Highly doubt it.

I wanted to draft Reed, but who knows, Clingan might end up a DPOY some day. All I know is we already have Goon and we needed shooting. So I'm all good.

    Go Rox!

Should also be thankful that DJ Wagner was a top prospect, went to Kentucky, and Calipari insisted on starting him every game. Otherwise, Reed probably goes first overall.
