I argued with DD for a couple of years that VSpan would extend his NBA career if he just learned how to shoot everything left-handed

Only having a handful of misses remembered throughout 30 years running the site, in the most visible position for scrutiny, seems a good overall scorecard really. Not even the actual GM's paid millions to do it gets all their picks right

    Malick Badiane.

He's still like 25 years away from being 35 years from being 100 years away. I'm sorry.

**EDIT** : Damn, I just saw he retired 4 years ago. Time flies.

    Greg Monroe.

I thought the Rockets should do all they could to trade for this passing big man with an outside shooting touch. It took a season before realizing while serviceable, he wasn't quite the missing piece for a Harden-led championship team.

And I have to admit as much as I love what Sheppard's showing already, I still think the Clingan has the makings of becoming a defensive force with the right roster. It may take 4 or 5 seasons, though.

I think there is a good chance Dave along with some other social media Rocket commentators were fed a line of BS about Clingan being the guy to put up a smoke screen in the hope Reed dropped to us. In other words it may very well be it was not so much he wanted Clingan more than Reed he just expected him to be the pick based on info he received.

Everything that was leaking from the organization before was Silas and goofball staff intel, which has been eradicated.

Pretty sure I once said something along the lines of "pray to the altar of Emoni Bates". Yikes.

Those Silas era leaks may very well be what "poisoned the well" for Clutch when it comes to Alpi. Silas obviously did not care for Alpi so info coming from them was likely anti-Alpi blaming him for Silas' inability to coach even a junior high school level defense.

No. Just stop. Clutch just simply liked Clingan, and like me I’m sure the pre draft measurements and data from Kentucky’s season left a lot of concerns about him having the physical upside needed at that high in the draft.

Concerns I’m glad to see starting to be put to bed a bit. It’ll be put to bed even more when we see it translate at the NBA level and not with just Bronny James level talent.

But never during the lead up was Reed not in the top 5 and in serious consideration. There’s no reason to believe the Rockets weren’t in serious consideration ever for not drafting Sheppard. They didn’t need to send smokescreens. It’s not like if the Wizards took Reed at 2 that the Rockets were going to freak out about taking Sarr or someone else that was projected to go #1 anyways. Not as ideal as a fit but still. That’s one of the benefits of being in the top 3. No need generally to smokescreen. Just shut up and do your homework.

I remember how excited he was when Jabari fell to us in the draft because that’s who he wanted all along.

I remember arguing with anti-paolo drafters.
They said Jabari was a plug in 3&D ready to play. Are we there yet?

"Opinions?" ... @Clutch is entitled to his, just as much as next guy on this board! Title, tenure, likes, etc. doesn't mean you're exempt from fumbling the ball at the one yard line every now and then! If you play the game long enough, we're all going to look back some day and say, "I can't believe I posted that".... hence the HAROLD MINOR reference in his podcast! Personally, I don't remember ever having a bad take of my own, BUT I look forward to having one some day...:D

Now stop lollygagging and "Get off my lawn!!" ;)

    Go Rockets!!!

Even Albert Einstein was wrong sometimes. That doesn't mean we throw out all of Einstein's work.

Love what we've seen from Mr. Sheppard so far, but calling someone out for their take after just two Summer League games?... Can we calm down and enjoy that we appear to have made a good choice. That doesn't necessarily mean that Clingan wouldn't have worked either or looked good next to Cam and the crew. They would have filled different needs and I would've judged them based on that.

Bottomline, Dave's takes hold no more weight than any of ours and certainly do not deserve scrutiny if they turn out inaccurate. That said..... It's summer league "my sister's D looks big in Summer League ".
